Have you tried putting it in a fish tank filled with oil … no … mmm strange
Noisy PC?
The easiest thing you can do to quiet down your computer is clean it and wrangle any mess of cords into a clean setup so you have good airflow.
This should by your first step. There can be a lot of dirt on the fans, which can cause a noice. The cpu cooling plate can also fill up with dust which prevents airflow through it. That can cause the CPU fan to run at max speed all the time.
Check the fan in the ps too.
If that does not work. Well then you have to spend some money.
- Get a powersupply that will control case fans according to the temperature of the case. I know OCZ and Antec have some that do that.
- I know they sell a little more expensive case fans are engineered for quiet. Im talking like an extra 10 bucks.
- Get a massive CPU cooler (thermalright or zalman) that doesn’t require a small fan running at high rpm but a large fan running at slow rpm.
- The best way to get the hard drive(s) quiet is to get those screws with the rubber washers to absorb the vibrations.
- Get a high end CD-Rom that doesn’t sound like a vacuum cleaner.
Depends on what is causing the noice.
The motherbord sometimes also has a 40 mm fan which runs at high speed. Thoese fans often get loud after some time.

Well you can try he he he.
Or you could fill it with cooking oil, same as above but tells you how… in english!
Caseking has a nice “Silent PC” section which gives you a good overview what is available on the market. Its only in Geramn though, but I guess it contains enough Denglish (and photos) so you can find your way.
but it’s not dangerous unless you still have it plugged in
I hope you don’t believe that. Those capacitors need to be discharged if it’s had power in the past few days.
