No sound bug

(stoosh) #1

Hello SD and everyone else.

I have been playing this game for a while now(120+ hours) and was enjoying it until the other day when I made the mistake of changing the receive volume for the voice to 0.

These are the steps i made to lose all sound.
1 go into ingame menu whilst in a match and turn slider down to 0 on receive volume.
2 hit apply and go back to playing.

Going back into menu and putting sound back up did nothing at all.

That was it and from that point all sound is gone from game accept when i go to the tutorial part and it plays the splash damage screen then goes to no sound again.

I have looked on nexon forums and their only official advice was to update my sound card drivers which are fully updated anyway.
I have looked around on forums and the only bits of advice i saw was to play with my crosshair colour which worked for someone else. And to make sure the game volume on sound mixer controls on desktop are not set to 0.

I have tried all the above options and none have worked. I have also deleted all local content from steam and also deleted the remaining left overs from install like the users/name/appdata/roaming/shooter folder, steam apps/common, documents/my games/unrealengine3 and 5 registry entry’s.

I have also gone as far as even uninstalling steam and re-installing it just in case it was a issue with steam keeping a log somewhere.

I am now at a loss as unless dirty bomb has put some data elsewhere on my pc i have no clue what to do next.

Please guys don’t ask me to buy some hardware to fix my issues as it is not on my end that is the problem, worked fine until I played with that one slider.

Hope I have given enough info if not please ask me any questions so that this major issue can be rectified and I can start enjoying this game again instead of having to go back to my old trusty ET since 2003.

I have also noticed that when doing a “verify Integrity of game cache” it will say that “1 file failed to update and will be reacquired”.
It reacquires it but next time i restart dirty bomb it needs to reacquire again as it is once again broken. In either case I still get no sound.

I cannot attach the log file or dx diag as your uploader manager will not accept either the log file format or the the .txt(33kb) due to your limit of only 19.5kb max.

If you would like me to email them to a member of staff let me know.

Yup, same thing just happened to a friend and I last night! Such a weird bug! I opened a ticket and got this as a response, but none of it worked…

Hello Player,

Thank you for contacting Nexon America Customer Support.

Please try uninstalling the game and then deleting your ShooterGame folder.

\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame

Once you have done this please try installing the game again.

You may need to re download your latest sound card driver.

Please update us on the status of this issue.

I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Anyone had any luck with fixing this yet?

Hey Stoosh, were you able to send that file with the link I gave you?

(ras) #5

Same issue here. Did you ever find a solution?

(Humbugsen) #6

The master volume slider is set to 1 sometimes, maybe that’s the problem?

(ras) #7

My in-game audio sliders are all maxed. Nothing muted in Windows volume mixer, either.

Try deleting the folder C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3
make a backup before

Tried that. Did everything mentioned in the original post with no luck.

Was hoping the latest patch would resolve the issue, but it did not.

Any ideas, devs?

FYI, this was resolved by updating my sound driver. I’m using a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD.
