No Minimum Player Amount for Private Matches (Suggestion)

I know I can’t be the only one that enjoys getting a small group of friends and playing a game privately.
It’s fun to take a break and fuck around doing “X weapon only” and things like that. However it’s a lot harder to get 6 people together as opposed to 3-4.

I realize it is in Alpha, but it would be great to have the minimum amount of players necessary to be removed entirely. Many players would enjoy having the option to screw around with their friends without having to go into an empty server and praying nobody joins to ruin their fun.

Though not a top priority (understandably) it would be fantastic to see the minimum done away with.

Completely agree.

Not only can it be annoying for a few friends just wanting to have some fun together, alone. But also for comp teams consisting of 5 players who wanna go through maps, run through strats and shit. Also solo players who just want to run around and learn the maps, learn the jumps and shortcuts you can do, and practice on them.

Yeah, the current implementation isn’t great, though it is a start.

This is because every time you make a server, it takes up the slot of a regular server (servers are NOT hosted from your PC). It’s about balancing resources, because if we had lots of 1v1’s running at once, the resource usage would be too high.” - Shoe, Splash Damage Community Manager.

This will not change, I am afraid, or at least not in the near future. The private matches are designed to recreate normal matches with your friends, not for 1v1’s or anything of the sorts.

Don’t shoot the messenger on this one, because I certainly would like smaller private lobby sizes too - I’m just relaying the info Splash Damage and Nexon has given us :x Perhaps in the future they might change their mind!

Ok, how about lowering it to 5 then? For reasons stated above. And then allow us to host the server on our PC for solo play.

I know the second request would require some coding to get working, probably a lot of coding, but it would be good. Would also be good if every merc was unlocked for testing purposes on the solo server.

Yup, they won’t do it because it takes up server resources and if a few hundred people start to fire up their own 1-2 man private servers it could severely impact the performance of all servers.

I would like to see the number lowered to 5 so you can get a 5 man team on a server and practice without needing a 6th idling.

Much more understandable, however there are work arounds such as having the ability to create temp servers based on the host’s connection.
If you use a third party software like Hamachi or Evolve you are usually able to play with a few friends easily without taking up a server.

Basically in that case it would be nice to have servers run off your own PC rather than game servers, or at least have the option to as opposed to having to run off of a game server.

I’m no developer so I don’t know how simple it is to work something like that in, but it’d certainly be nice to see.

Player-hosted-lobbies are pure shit. Look at CoD.
And no. There are free rotations for free-testing.

Only if servers became a free resource and XP isn’t earned until there’s 6 in the server.

Private matches should be fully customizable, without any unneeded limitations for amount of players or something else.
There is no exp/cred gain anyway, so let ppl come up with any crazy mode they can think of, game would only benefit in a long run, since it could evolve into new game modes.

The limitation has to be there, else it would require a lot of HW resources.

But please, lower the minimum amount of people to 5, so we can go over strategies with our teams.

Yes, CoD was shit, but nobody is suggesting Peer2Peer for ALL the servers, just for the private matches. Nobody is getting forced into a private match, so if you could Peer2Peer with your friends then you know who’s connection is the strongest and who should host the match.

The sooner dedicated servers are given to the public, the sooner people will start pulling them apart to create more cheats, more exploits, free credits, free ranks, etc…

Its unfortunate as I personally would love to host a dedicated server on an actual server box.
Also, since this is a F2P game, it is even more unlikely this sort of access would ever be given as people PAY to unlock mercs and cards.

If a dedicated server option ever came out it would likely be a different build from the current servers to ensure that credit and xp gain could not be re-added and affect your profile.

That being said… please let us dedicate our own servers… :smiley:
That would enable us to do server side mods too like add new maps, etc… assuming someone could load up DB’s maps in Unreal Editor (though they likely have a modified editor for them with a lot of their own assets/actors)

Yeah, they definitely confirmed public servers (such as privately hosted ones, external to Nexon) will NEVER be a thing - I assume this has something to do with it. It would be nice if there was a way around it, perhaps for LAN hosting, because I used to love LAN parties on games such as Quake and UT, but alas it is the way of F2P it seems… :c
