No longer able to connect to Multiplayer

For the first 3 or 4 days that PSN was live since Brink’s release, I was able to connect to and play the online multiplayer with very little problem. Occasionally I would get some lag, but most of the time the connection and gameplay was flawless.

Thursday evening, I was trying to host a game night with friends and nobody could connect (timed out). This was through both using the invite system and join friends. I tried joining them with no luck. I then proceeded to try any sort of online. Campaign and Freeplay, with a whole host of different settings. The main standards being: Visibility: Everyone and “My Rank or Higher”. Could not find any games. Either I was thrown in as a host with bots, or into an empty room (no bot settings). At no point, were others able to connect.

I have had this same problem ever since.

Some troubleshooting measures taken include:

  1. Manually resetting/recycle my modem and router
  2. Deleted my game data
  3. Deleted my game save (gasp, level 16 and level 6 characters)
  4. Tried connecting to online multiplayer in other games - Warhawk and Free Realms…which both were successful.

Still, no luck.

Any help?

Thank you

The only wacky theory I could come up with is that I believe Wednesday evening, while playing bring online, I had a power surge at my house which temporarily reset my modem and knocked me offline. I was able to log back in moments later and I believe I played multiplayer, but I can’t recall 100%.

Could there be an instance or something of my PSN being logged into the brink matchmaking system that is preventing me to get back in? I am not getting any sort of error when the game first loads and I get the ‘signing in’ message.

Again, that may be out there…but its all I got at this point.

Thanks again.

you may have to re-forward ports after your router reset

Thank you for the reply.

I have my PS3 in DMZ. It is my understanding that once in DMZ, port forwarding is not necessary.

That said, I don’t recall if I verified that the DMZ settings held. Will check tonight.

Any other suggestions?

it sounds router related rather than game related

nah… there’s no multiplayer here either…
