No disarm progress bar?

In ETQW you knew where the other team was when disarming because you could see an orage line ovelapping the white progress bar on the bomb timer.

It seems there’s no such progress bar on Brink (at least not for the team that planted it), when the bomb gets disarmed if you aren’t close enough to see what’s going on it therefore comes as a surprise.

I liked the orange disarm timer, when things were real close it gave you epic moments to watch that orange bar overtake the white one just in the nick of time (or not).

I personally like it that way. Seems a little more balanced to me, but I could be wrong.

Yeah i rather liked it… and hopefully this is one of those moments you speak off

Seeing the disarm progress bar moving told you there was a guy on the cgharge disarming it, so you could run through the door with your nade primed and toss it just as you cleared the door to kill the engy.

Maybe they decided since the defenders couldn’t see an attackers arming progress it wasn’t fair to the defenders for the attackers to see the disarm progress.

It does make sense, but still, lost moments of “wow, did you see how close that was?”

Yeah I don’t know as I havent had experience with both teams being able to see the bar. I’m used to having to peak every so often or listen for sounds.

I can see how it could lead to some “Oh ****” gameplay moments though

I honestly don’t mind. In ET you couldn’t even tell when the TNT was going to go off nevermind the disarm.

I always thought it was unfair how the attackers could tell when an engineer was disarming. Maps like Area 22 you can just plant, hide in te corner of the room and have a nade ready for when the orange bar starts to move. Now people will have to rely on communication and awarness to defend plants properly.

In W:ET there is no way of knowing if the dynamite is being disarmed, you only get Dynamite planted/defused. I think it make the game more balanced, like Jamieeson said.

You can get this effect with caltrops around an objective - if the enemy doesn’t creep in, they’ll take damage, and the operative who placed them will get a damage done indicator. They still have to relay the information to the rest of the team, but they are the “Intel” class, after all.

True Story: Operatives used to have the remote detonators, but in combination with caltrops (wait for damage to be done, then explode a nearby remote bomb), this was kind of super powered, and closer to an instant mine (i.e. with engineer mines, there is a chance to survive after stepping on it).

Still possible with good communication, I suppose.

I personally liked being able to see the timer/diffuse status. It was global to both teams, so everyone knew what was going on. I suppose it’s a trade-off either way. There are positives and negatives to either way it’s been implemented.

Personally, I just thought the global progress bar was a natural evolution of the games I heart, but it certainly isn’t a deal breaker.

Considering how much information is actually automated, thats quite surprising.

SSF4AE!!!

Also I didnt know about the caltrops, checked on the wiki, sounds like a fun tool I’m going to have to learn to exploit to its fullest.

Indeed, even if you were dad you could experience really tense moments. It drew all the players of all teams together watching the thing in anticipation and try whatever they can to let it come out in their favour.

Turrets give a similar effect. If you see them racking up points, or being damaged, well, you know where the enemy is.

And yeah buddy. Even if it’s laggy, I have to show you how my Ken’s progressing.

Do caltrops last for 40 seconds
