No cursor on Ladders, Dynamite, that sort of thing

Is there a flag or key or something that can eliminate the use of the in-game cursor hint?

I saw in Gold Rush some cursorhint / hint_none that I tried to use and the cursor still came up in game.

I want to make some trenches that are too deep to walk up but have a ladder texture on the side so people can still get out of them. But I don’t want the ladder icon to come up.

no the cursor hint - cursor effects cannot - to my knowlege - be edited through scripts and maps

they are part of the game code - if you wanna make your own c files you can do it.

BTW - the hint - no hint shaders are used to tell the Q3Map engine what to do - either chop up the map in an area into smaller VIS blocks or larger.

Its a little complicated - i dont fully understand - but they dont affect the onscreen cursor hints

The hint icons are generally in the game for a purpose so that players knows where they can climb and not get stuck. But you could do it another way. Create some really small “clip” texture brushes in steps up the side of the wall. Like make the steps 1 map unit thick and 16 map units high and the player will climb the wall like it was like a ladder.

i remember for wolf there was a key and value you enter into the entities window to get rid of the cursor hints, does that still work
