Is it possible to make certain areas in an outdoor map NO Airstrike zones?
Lately, I’ve been seeing too many good playable maps, getting swamped with airstrikes and more or less ruining it.
Thanks,

YES, there are many possibilities.
Easiest thing is to make an Caulked Ceiling in the sky,… but this is a bit stupid because the Players dont understand this,… and wont like it,… I think,… So I thought about meshes,… they used meshes in the First WW (in Trenches). Bombs blow up on the meshes not on the ground so u can hide a bit better (crawling let survive u in my map e. g.). I added to my mesh shader the lines of the noheavyWeaponclip,… but it seems not working for Artillerie, but for Panzer, Grens and Airstrikes.
I think caulk creates shadows, so you might want to use something else. Can’t think what though.
Look in the thread,… something simple,… it has the same thematic.
Btw,… I didnt saw any shadows,… but my sun is very low,…
I just want to limit airstrikes, but would still like the mortars to work in those areas.

I wish we could add something like g_heavyWeaponsRestriction “1” in the map file. That would atleast limit the airstrikes possible on that map, but it would be like overriding all the server configs and I doubt players are happy with that. I think HWR 1 makes the game more realistic thou’ (airstrikes wasn’t something one could swamp any area with in WWII) and I have enforced it on my server on all maps.)
I don’t have an answer, but since we’re talking about it I have a question of my own
It’s sort of the opposite… I can’t call airstrikes/arty anywhere on the map. Any possible spot gives the “aborting can’t see target” message - how do I make it available?
Hi Digm!
They discuss this in here:

Good luck!

I guess if it’s really necessary you could remove the sky surfaceparms from your sky shader, and make the roof tall enough for mortars, but that’s probably not such a good idea.
