newbie FAQ

  1. Does sitting-down lower the recoil like in other games?
  2. Does long-jumping while running makes you arrive to the point faster than if you were just running?
  3. Do you ever need to turn off sprinting? Everybody kinda turn it on each time they spawn and that’s it. Why is there a non-sprint (walk) mode?

  1. No. I find it actually makes it worse with some guns, notably the Blishlok. There’s a minor spread reduction from what I know, but it’s barely noticeable. I only use ADS to zoom in. Sniper Rifles have terrible hip fire accuracy though.
  2. Just long jumping alone, no. It’s a burst of speed, but unless you have the springy perk you slow down too much once you hit the ground again. But long jumping and wall jumping removes the deceleration on the ground, which is faster than running.
  3. You shouldn’t be sprinting while actually shooting. Or at least not much, it’s better to walk and strafe.

  1. Sitting down does help but not that much, you’re better off with not crouching as you’re damaging your mobility making you easier to hit you consistently. The only time you should crouch is for jumps or to make your movement unpredictable making it harder for the opponent to hit headshots.
  2. Long jumping and bouncing off a wall is a great movement speed boost. But just long jumping? no.
  3. Turn off sprinting at all times unless you’re positive there is no enemy around where you are, if you have your gun up majority of the time you will be able to get the advantage against the person that is sprinting constantly, your gun is up and theirs isn’t. Simple.

to point 3. isnt it that sprinting only affects your forward movement? so basically, if you have sprint on and you just strafe or “sprint” backwards while shooting, you are just walking and thus your spread doesnt increase?

I assume you are talking about toggle sprint.

I generally assume that self-respecting people don’t use it, but here’s a reason for people who somehow are self-respecting but still use it, to not use it…

Sprint toggle makes tactical movement (very important in DB) very difficult because you can’t move forward slowly. Also, unless you turn off “Sprint Cancels Reload” (big advantage to have on), moving in a forward direction will stop you from reload, limiting your movement to a strafe or backpedal while reloading. if you have it off, you pretty much can’t escape while reloading.

Moral of the story? Don’t use toggle sprint.

Is it that hard to press one button to move around when not in combat?

P.S: Here’s a suggestion if you have trouble holding "Shift’ for sprint: Bind sprint to “Tab” and move scoreboard to [key]. I also have my crouch bound to “Q” (All of my abilities are on my mouse).
