newbie asking help ;)

when i importing the terrian to my map (to radiant) all the terrian is func_group - there for it all marked (painted in red) so my problem is when i pressing escape and all the terrian DISAPPEARS!! :banghead: :bash:
hope you understand me :smiley:

i have some few questions:

can u tell me what the next textures do:

*nodraw
*nodrawater
*nodrop
*and the clip texture (generally)
*skip
*hullcaulk

hope its not too much :smiley: :smiley: :blah: :blah:

Open the shader files and cross check the resp. shader with the Shader manual to find out what it does.

and what do you mean in ā€œresp shaderā€?

For your terrain, try looking at it in the non-grid view, where you can see the full 3d of your map, and press Alt-Shift-LeftClick(mouse) on a part of your terrain (if you can see it there). That should make it red again. This works for all func-group things. :slight_smile:

If it is still invisible, maybe it has been imported as detail - try pressing Ctrl-D and see if reappears. Ctrl-D will toggle it on and off. If you still can’t see it then it’s a different problem.

Radiant takes a little while to get used to. Best of luck. :slight_smile:

I pressed ctrl+D and its worked!!
10x 10x 10x!

but you or some one can tell why it takes longgggggg time to the complier to complie my map with the terrian? (without it it take few minuts no 30-60 min… with the terrian).

btw it stucks on the PassagePortalFlow stage…

You need to learn about structural and detail bruswork…and how these 2 types effect certain compiling swicthes.

There are more links in the bottom of that thread. Try to make the best of understanding this stuff as this is not an easy portion ā€˜of mapping’ to comprehend as a beginner.

hmmm thanks man but i already read this (or something similer) and i still dont get it!! :angry: ( :weird: )
i inporting the terrian as-structul and pressing ctrl+D to convert it to detail (like some here said to do) and its works…
i tried to complie with the structul and it cam pressy good (but i coulnt FINISH THE COMPLING!! i press the X bottun every time it stuck…- and the map worked :clap: )

ctrl + D to toggle detailed brushes on/off.
ctrl + M to turn selected brush into detailed brush.
