The video is pretty old, I’ve seen it a few months ago already. It surprises me people just posted it here and noone had seen it before, the vid has been public for quite a while.
New video with "Freedom of Movement"
For my part, it’s that the big official Brink information releases can be mostly boiled down to three classes
- Barbie skin customisation stuff.
- SMART SMART SMART SMART SMART SMART SMART
- Here’s video footage… of someone playing with an xbox controller and godmode with tweaked weapons.
It all turned into white noise and I stopped paying attention.
I suppose there’s also the fact that Beth kept pulling unofficial videos of Brink down; after a while I stopped looking for info.
I know where youre coming from with regards to wanting a variation of info. I would really like to know about all the weapons and abilities in detail. But I dont want to get aroused over something that they have said is in the game, only for it to be taken out later on.
Im sure beth will pile on the info shortly.
I agree. As long as there’s still an option to turn off movement bob it looks good. Glad to see the movement system in action.
ohnoes man you went faster than me
, take care tho you’ll get burned down by “god’s” thunder nao…
Brink is fast!
Peace
The video in question here is clearly showing slow movement and unnecessarily long animations when performing SMART actions, most people here don’t expect to see this when for months it has been drilled in our heads that this SMART system would offer fast and fluid movement to which this video contradicts, how else are people meant to react?

And most people probably weren’t expecting a ‘new’ cinematic trailer featuring gameplay elements that aren’t in the game…the people in this thread are acting like the video is from the retail release…
like mentioned earlier -
even if this video was brand new, it would still be six months before release, yet this video is even months older than that…
I’d really hate it if jumping around would be punished either by being slower or giving huge spread so that your bullets are randomly going all over the place. I really hate it when you can only shoot while standing still in games.
Guess that was kinda off topic now
Regarding the video: Movement too slow imo

Yeah and no, fix hit detection while jumping first, really hate it when you get some idiots in ET:QW jumping around in fire fights making them hard to hit, not because I cant track their movement but because of unregistered hits on them. You just end up with firefights that resemble fighting scenes from team america:
It looks fast enough for the medium type. If you want it faster go light.
It looks great, especially the wallride/cling was impressive.
You basically want it to be incredibly hard to hit while you have an incredibly easy time aiming.

That is definately not what he said.
Are there other reasons for jumping around?
Having it both ways is just lame as it only opens up one possibility to approach fights. Either you dodge and trade your high accuracy, or you can easily aim and trade your mobility. Preferably on a gradual scale.
Why would they make a video to show a slower speed than what they want in retail? I bet its the final speed. Now you can continue being blind fanboi and keep telling blabla, from what i see it is slow, and I’m not alone thinking that (i.e; 80% of the post on this threads…).
First your arguments were:
“no this isnt slow, the vids arent gameplay vids so you cant tell” (while we actually can already tell when you played fps for more than 10 years…)
and now that a gameplay vids show a slow paced game you are telling us that the video cant be considered cuz its not the retail… let me lol a bit. If we have to wait for the retail to express opinions, why are we all here now? Just dont make forums and ppl will cry after the game’s release…
Dang the low level keeps me amazed sometime.
Jumping is an evasive tactic yes, but it sacrifices your aim (obviously it is harder to aim at someones head if you are moving from side to side and also up and down while shooting, than just side to side, this is obvious). His point was that it is annoying when they make the spread larger, as this just makes the fight ridiculous, as its harder to aim and your guns less accurate.
Also in brink id imagine jumping over things will play a large part in gameplay, i think having huge spread while moving would kind of ruin the concept
Yes, I’m talking about spread increase as well. Having low spread no matter what you do equals having an easy time aiming. If you have low spread no matter what you do, then it only makes sense to be constantly running and jumping around as that means you’ve got best of both worlds. Instead of having a whole ranges of ways to approach a fight, there’s only one right one which degrades the tactical gameplay.
It would diminish the concept because it’s the only thing you’re forced to do instead of making the right decisions (“shall I climb up this ledge to avoid his fire or is he far away enough to take aim and shoot back?”).
It just throws the judgment and anticipation of situations completely out of the window.
