New update questions

What does these things do?

Changes
■Removed cheat protection from the incap command
■Removed cheat protection from the following variables
■r_skipHaloRendering
■g_interactionUpdate (defaults to 200ms)
■g_interactionForecolor
■g_interactionBackcolor
■g_interactionSelectedBack
■g_interactionSelectedFore

Can someone explane these update settings to me?

So no one knows it?
Badman can you maybe explane these settings?

(Covan2306) #3

maybe the cheat protection was buggin the actual commands somehow.
dunno made me scratch my head a little also

This is only a hypothesis, but i’m guessing that those variables may be useful in context of competitive play.

Unfortunately, I can’t answer the OP, but since he’s asked nicely in 2 separate threads, I’m throwing him my backing in finding an answer.

Halo rendering should remove the glow/soft light effect I think… see if it improves performance when set to 1.

Interaction cvars must have something to do with buffing interactions, though I’m not really sure.

(tangoliber) #6

The interactionUpdate might have something to do with F key actions, and something to do with a delay, whether it is the immediacy of the action, or the just the prompt…

(Smooth) #7

Incap - This is the equivalent of /kill, allows players to ‘kill’ themselves but still be revivable

r_skipHaloRendering - Disables the coloured outline on interaction elements (objectives, buffs etc) in the world when set to 1

g_interactionUpdate - Server-side setting that affects how quickly the interaction prompts appear when looking at someone

The others change the colour/opacity of icons for in-world objects/missions like Command Posts and MG nests.

Thanks for the info, Smooth.

The demo recording is really nice. However, about some of my demos won’t playback and cause Brink to exit to desktop after loading them. I was wondering if you guys knew of anything that I should avoid to ensure that I don’t get a malfunctioning demo.
