new tutorial

Just finished the new tutorial which was quite decent but I really hoped that sd would’ve made it a bit more spread out and didn’t keep it to skyhammer and aura

(ending looked nice though ^^)

In ultra settings it look 100x better, trust me

Aren’t they planning more specialized tutorials for other mercs? An Engineer tutorial where they tell you only one engi can repair at once and that sometimes suicide is the only way to push an objective would be great. Sniper tutorials that tell you the ins and outs of DB sniping vs other FPS games would also solve the anti-noob-Vassili Naz!ism that’s been going around. Maybe even specific merc tutorials that teach you how to effectively use Phoenix’s abilities in combat, how Sawbonez can full-heal non-medics but only out of combat, how Sticky Bombs deal significantly more damage when stuck to enemies, and other essential merc-specific knowledge to integrate new players into DB more effectively.

The new tutorial is a definite improvement from before. There’s also some hilarious text on the whitboards.

This was taken from the Med room

It’s a first run that is going to be expanded on.

I really like the new tutorial, as long as it will be expanded on. Useless “look around with mouse” like parts have been removed, and overall the entire basic movement-ordeal is shortened into bare minimum, ditching the useless rambleramble. Good job SD.

Maybe I would’ve wanted to see even just a mention of the “Only 1 can repair/defuse at a time, and fastest one takes priority” rule, even if it was not possible to add into Skyhammer generator repair part.

All in all it keeps thing simple, not holding hand too much but giving the basic mechanics for newbie in much more intuitive form than before. We’ll see in free-for-all servers soon enough how this has affected them

It…it is mandatory for first-time players right?

i actually wouldnt mind if they forced every player to do both the tutorial and assault. Ik it would be boring for the majority of us, but it would ensure all players have done the same basic knowledge.
