New to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory modding

(maggol) #1

Hi, everybody
I am new to wolfenstein modding and i’m little confuse about what tools that i have to use, where is the best site that contain tutorial how to make a map or mod for W:ET. So, my questions are:

  1. What tools i have to use to make a map or mod for W:ET?
  2. Where i can find extensive tutorial about how to make a map or mod for W:ET?
  3. What is the newest version of W:ET? Is it 2.60 or 2.60b?

Thank you for answering my questions

Well best tutorial site in WET mapping is http://www.pythononline.co.uk/et/tutorial.htm i guess.

And i think 2.60b is newest and you can play ETpro too with it.

Thanks for the link nukits
Here’s a few that I have saved up as well in my bookmarks

Surface : http://www.wolfensteinx.com/surface/tutorials.html

Jolt : http://forums.joltonline.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=2425501

Tram Design : http://tramdesign.planetwolfenstein.gamespy.com/resources.html

Nibs(Quit ET Mapping To Help people map  ) http://www.nibsworld.com/rtcw/index.shtml

I would suggest using EasyGen for your terrain mapping, then save and import into your gtkradiant.

as for modding, it depends what kinda mod you wanna make, skin mod or prog mod

Thank you for answering my question, guys. It’s really helpful.
@thunderpwn
I want to make a total conversion mod if it’s possible

*gg making a total conversation is very much work - what kind do you want to do?
maybe you find some help here -
but you need to know how to make maps
textures
models
scripts
and if you want to change the gameplay - some experience in coding with c
but some more information about your dream could help others…

(maggol) #8

Well, it kinda hard to tell because i want to keep it as a secret, but it’s okay if it’s necessary. I want to make a mod based on Naruto, but not just a conversion. I will make a Naruto Modern Warfare, good title eh. Ha ha ha, that’s what i want to make for W:ET.

idea stealer (6)

(maggol) #10

I think if someone steal this idea from me, the way he executed this idea will be different from what i dreamed for. And maybe it can be a major moral boost for me to finish this mod.

(maggol) #11

Hoi, everyone. I have GTKRadiant, Mapzone, ET SDK, Easy Gen and Q3 model tool. Does i ready to make a mod?

(twt_thunder) #12

no… you need microsoft visual c

(ailmanki) #13

Depends… maybe you can do the changes it needs with Lua …

If for example you want to make players to be able to fly… it needs a mod.

(ischbinz) #14

you need a tool for making playermodels - think you want to change them.
i use milkshape - 29€
and lightray - 79€

other pr0 softwars is too expensive
maybe one open sourde model tool supports mdm/mdx files too - but dunno if/which

(Paul) #15

For setting up for modding check the sticky compiling a mod under windows

(twt_thunder) #16

well…since you’re a SD member…you might tell us what tool to use

(shagileo) #17

He’s a SD forum member, not really a staff member, if that’s what you meant.

(kamikazee) #18

I think the “SD update” avatars will need some reworking, or a disclaimer.

(maggol) #19

BTW, what maximum size of map do W:ET support?

(.Chris.) #20

How long is peice of string?

There are load of different limitations that will affect how large or how detailed your map can be, think there is a list of them somewhere.
