I can load my map and move around as a spectator and all, but whenever i try to go to the limbo menu, it freezes and i need to use ctrl+alt+dlt, i really don’t know much about the program yet, and I do not have a command map yet, so does anyone know a common problem that I have and how to fix it?
New to mapping, limbo problem
I can load my map and move around as a spectator and all, but whenever i try to go to the limbo menu, it freezes and i need to use ctrl+alt+dlt, i really don’t know much about the program yet, and I do not have a command map yet, so does anyone know a common problem that I have and how to fix it?
this question gets asked about once week. you need to set your min/max mapcoods properly. there must be about million topics about it. i always set mine as
mapcoodmins -5000 5000
mapcoordmaxs 5000 -5000
i keep it like this until i’ve fully worked out exactly how big my map is gonna be then i change it to suite the size of my map. if you use these coods temporarily be sure you find out how to set them correctly before you get anywhere near releasing a map good luck and use search for more help o this topic
Theres a sticky thread where you can find help for several common problems:
Sticky: TUTORIALS AND ET MAPPING RESOURCES
And there it’s the following link:
Map Basic Requirements or Making an ET map for First Timers (not sure about this).
You will also need this thread:
Command maps in ET
You will also find some help (especially for command maps) in the gtkradiant help. Just choose:
Help -> Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory -> ET Level Designers Reference and then Command Maps.
I’ve written a short tutorial that covers the basics of a map mainly a summarization of the above mentioned thread:
A short tutorial: Basics of a simple playable map
Ok thanks, sorry for making a new thread, i looked around a little bit(just like 5 min) and i couldnt find anything…well thanks again
Just found this side.
It’s an extended version of the “Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Documentation” that comes with the gtkradiant by sock:

Theres a link “Sample Maps -> Back to Basics -> Classic Box Map” to a basic example map.

don’t worry lots of people gets stuck with this problem, next you’ll be wanting to know why your dynamitable objective does not work and how come custom textures show up as a orange and black grid. :moo:
Then you get that sorted out, and “ERROR: Version number is 46 and should be 47”

Someone help me, I’m in HELL! Hehe Why am I the ONLY one with this problem?
It still doesn’t work right now, if i set it to -5000, 5000 and 5000, -5000 will it work even if its a small map(haven’t worked on it too much yet)?
No, don’t set it this way.
You have to take the size of your map.
Taken from the above link:
Key mapcoordsmins represent the top left corner (x / y map editor values).
Key mapcoordsmaxs represent the bottom right corner (x / y map editor values). One of the easiest ways to do that is to create a square brush under your map. (Make sure it’s square!) Also make sure that everything that has to be on the command map is within the bounds of the square brush. Then move the cursor over the top left corner of the brush and you will get the x / y mapcoordsmins (first two values) from the little coordinate line in Radiant (bottom right). Repeat for the x / y mapcoordsmaxs with the bottom right corner of the brush and you’re done.
when u get in teh game bring up the console type \developer 1 (2 get into developer mode!) and \generatetracemap if it says it cant do it then u still have problems, if it brings up a few lines of values n stuff it has worked
Ok I got one more question, Right now I have a map with flags for CTF, but how do I get a drop off point for the flag to make a team win?
