Well Kamikaze I don’t blame you for your reply of course, but as manwhore said: there are thousands and thousands of copyright violations made throughout the ET world. If you read the readme file (which is included) I clearly referred to the copyright part of the game itself. Now these voicesamples are very small (not longer than 3-4 seconds), I don’t think they’re going to sue me just for that (eventhough I clearly included the copyright of the AOE game) (==> this doesn’t mean that I can copy and paste at my own wish of course, but it prooves that I didn’t make the sounds myself)
If people are going to make it a big fuzz, well then they should reconsider their thought IMO. I mean, there is also a soundpack of (e.g.) the original RTCW with all gun sounds, voicesamples etc etc and still, people put it on their server. Maps are made and copied from other games, skins etc etc.
It’s just for some good fun, because there are a lot of people who like the AOE series.
So, I guess that remark is (I’m afraid) a bit out of date, since many soundpacks have a lot of (yes yes I’m repeating myself) copyright ‘infringements’.
EDIT: oh and btw: microsoft even releases some of its voicesamples “for free” on the official AOE site : http://www.microsoft.com/games/empires/multimedia.htm
- you can download the free trial version which also includes voicesamples
