New skin for each map

(K:os) #1

I’ve got the British Trenchcoat and Axis SS skins and have been able to go in and edit the uniforms to arctic for winter maps etc, is it possible to set up a server to change the uniform pk3 for each map. cos desert maps are gonna look silly with all the players in white.

Thanks
Adam

i don’t think so. It was a feature SD had planned on adding to the code, but discontinued.

If I could make a small request, please edit in some shorts and maybe a floppy sun hat because running around Oasis with a big old MG42 in a heavy trenchcoat makes me sweat like a pig.

thought it might be possible cos I’ve been on a few servers that download the maps when you start that map rather than downloading the lot when you connect. (hope that makes sense)

Under the current system, if you change skins and download them, they will replace the skins on every map. NOT a good idea

How about SD release a gender selection patch for the female players? I know a bunch of you will complain that it’s not realistic but since ET is based on RTCW, in the single player game you have to fight female elite german soldiers.

I heard they were going to include femal models but were afraid people would stop playing and just stare.

how could we possibly play the game if they had female models.I cant play the game with one hand

(WiGgLeRiCe) #9

wasn’t there a few parents with infants that came up with a one handed configuration so they could play the game while holding the baby? Maybe ya can learn from them so you can play the game one handed LOL

(Atlas) #10

how do you execute a custom skin? I have skins for RTCW that I’ve made but can’t get them to work.

(Mumbly-joe) #11

where? I’ve tried playing with my newborn son in my lap but I cant seem to hold him and play at the same time…move, switch hands, aim…I die a lot

(It’s on the first page, under “7/28/03”.)

Isn’t that maybe due to there being many custom maps on ?
I’ve noted that the server will usually autodownload somewhere about three maps when the player joins, and if you have for example 10 custom maps on, the players will get the remaining maps in map changes. (Quite annoying for some until they have all maps, but will usually “solve itself” in a day or two)

Damn… i’ll try the one-hand cfg… Got a daughter of 9 weeks, always handy (if you only have 1 hand avail  )

Congratulations to all you proud new ET playin’ parents : )

Obviously no proper research has been carried out, but on the present evidence I would be unsurprised to learn that ET players are, uh, uncommonly potent.

Good to know you’re not shooting blanks offline either : }

Keep up, er, um, the good work!

The base of a character system is in place, has network code and everything. The only bit that’s really missing is the per-map theme selection (even though the file structure is setup for it, characters/<theme>/stuff) and the media (such as desert skins). It should be quite easy for a mod to add the last bits of functionality.

hm, its worth a try!

that would be really cool!

Yeah,… then u could switch your sound (like calling V21 for medic LOL) every mapper could setup his own sound and Uni,… that would be great.
So in the winter Soldiers would run around in whitegreen and whiteblue haha LOL (probably too much for some people). And in the desert with desertcolours.
I would like it to add my own sounds (Germans call for Sani not for medic LOL).
As an Axis looking in the Limbo could be very confusing in my map (escaped), because the orders stand there in german (hehe) for the allies it is all in English. It would be great to have the possibility to change some of the standard Axis sound (only for one map) in ger,am too.

if you need special sounds or have some ideas for new sounds in general i’d recommend to talk to konigstiger (konigstiger@wolfproject.net) he does these things, mabe you know his sound-packs…
