Very impressive! I just hope that my comp is able to draw that one (my poor fps), looks very demanding. Be sure to make it well balanced

I’ve got the slowest RTCW setup of any clan player I know (gf 2 mx 200 grrrr kill kill), so I’m always one to test for speed.

Suffice to say it runs much quicker than any equivalent open RTCW / ET map I’ve played - the only reason it drops below a constant 74 fps on my setup is firstly because lightmaps are enabled and higher texture resolutions / patches (cos I want it to look nice while I make it  ), and because I’ve not caulked a lot of hidden surfaces (hence a lot of overdraw, especially with 16bit Z buffer).

So before I start putting more detail / textures in, I can speed it up a fair bit, and if it runs fast enough on my computer, it’ll run more than fast enough on anyone else’s.

As a comparison:

640x480 16 bit full lightmap - worst case scenario = 60 fps
Same settings radar - worst (and common) case scenario = 20 fps

And that’s before you start adding other players in

Great brushwork there!
Trying to figure out the theme of the map, is it ment to be an old castle?
Liked to huge tower, looks like something from LoTR almost.

(MadAxeMan) #7

I take it you’re not a huge LoTRs fan Drakir, or you might have caught the reference to Helm’s Deep in the second post.

(Drakir) #8

No i am not a huge fan, i really like LoTR but am not a huge fan that recognizes buildings.

Anyway great brushwork, but what has Helms Deep got to do with WWII?

(G0-Gerbil) #9

Nothing really, but why let that get in the way of a nice map?

I’m interested if anyone wants to skin some orcs / soldiers, although they’d look a bit odd carrying guns etc (might suit the orcs though!).

Is there a way to key a certain set of skins to a campaign and / or map?

Never got into skins so no idea how they work…

I’d be willing to do the terrain some justice if you’d like.
