New Radiant 1.5 nightly build available (10-01-2006)

(Shaderman) #1

There’s a new Radiant 1.5 nightly build available that should be interesting for ET mappers.

Some of the changes are:

  • Added strafing for the camerawindow (namespace)
  • Added brushexport plugin - Wavefront .obj exporter (namespace)
  • Added sunplug plugin - (Enemy Territory only) mapcoords calculation (Topsun)
  • Added shaderplug - tag file creation for the Enhanced Texture Browser (Shaderman)
  • Added Enhanced Texture Browser (ETB) (Shaderman). See this thread for more information.

Enjoy it!

Sorry, what’s a ‘nightly build’?

is this release stable? the enhanced texture browser looks good!

W00t! Going to check it out tomorrow, maybe I’d keep on working with it.

One thing though, given that you are a little closer to the devs: could you get a complete key list? The “keys” page in the help menu does not list any key combinations involving the mouse. And this works really counterproductive if you want to do things like group selection or seperate-face texturing. (Used to be CTRL+ALT and CTRL+SHIFT/CTRL+SHIFT+ALT)

EDIT for Flippy: Nightly build is a term which means “we just passed a period of coding, here’s a build”. This means that it hasn’t got an extensive amount of testing, just some basic tests.

Nightly builds are snapshots of the (IMO) stable radiant-tree, but not an official version. There are no bugs that i’m aware of and that should prevent anyone from using it - but don’t blame me if I’m wong

Noted. I’ll have a look at it the next days. Maybe I can add the mouse functions to the key list.

(Flippy) #5

ok thanks i understand…

@kamikazee, what is it now then? I stopped using 1.5 before because i had to use face selection first to select the whole brush, then one face, then apply texture, instead of just ctrl+shift click -.-

Maybe this documentation helps to start with Radiant 1.5: http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/files/radiant/docs/1.5/howto.html

A video turorial explaining the new 3D window handling would be great though.

(namespace) #7

Concerning the key/mouse commands, see this list:
http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/files/radiant/docs/1.5/commands.html
Its almost uptodate.

Other secret features:
The strafing in the camerawindow has been extended, you can now “strafe” forward and backward when holding ctrl and shift.

(Chruker) #8

What software are the ETQW mappers using? Radiant? Which version?

cool,

i’ll take alook when i can, haven’t had alook at 1.5 since it was totally borked over with all the maya/max style tizzles

Its a shame tho since 1.5 is the future, but is a step back from the radiant most know, love and have used in the past 4-5years :o

The removal of some features expressed by many here are detrimental to it progression, sure add need control mechanisms, but don’t alienate the current user base ¬_¬

would but nice to see 3d view face selection ala 1.4 as well as face edge manipulation (ctrl+LMB+drag) to easily edit and create terrain and rocks see socks simland http://simland.planetquake.gamespy.com/pages/articles/rockwall1_1.htm

Is the vertex edit fixed… ?

hrm man i’m so behind on 1.5 O_o
Serves me right for being a 1.4x lurver :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Anyhoo, sounds like some good additional features definately worth a look.

Link to the ETB documentation.

Group selection is now ctrl + alt + E with one brush allready selected.
Vertex edit can still be bit buggy but has improved.

Havent tried the new version yet but sounds pretty good, ill be giving it a whirl this weekend. New texture browser sounds interesting.

(kamikazee) #12

Thanks for thae tip!
But the CTRL+ALT+E key command wasn’t listed on the commands page. The rest is mostly complete, and I think Radiant can finally be put to use now all the 1.4 plugins are ported.

(BigBadWolf) #13

Arnt the keys in xml format so you can set them how ever? I thought i read that somewhere, i never messed with it though, 1.5 has some nice features, but i still cant get away from 1.4, just too used to how it works, if i could get the buttons back like 1.4 i could deal without the z window and learn to use the rest of the features.

Not yet, that’s on the TODO list: Shortcuts: convert shortcuts.ini to xml. and Shortcuts: make shortcut list editable within radiant.
Currently the shortcuts are stored in Application Data\RadiantSettings\1.5.0\your.game\shortcuts.ini. Have a look at it if you want to edit the shortcuts.
