New players and Skoyhamma

i ran into these bunch of kiddies while im playing my smurf account
(in my defense im playing chill just trying to buy fletcher in another account)

they went into debate about why SD giving them such crappy merc for starter
and it devolve into skyhammer cooldown is too long and how the people in the forum hated newbies so the forum user made skyhammer crippled (what surprised me that one of them claims to be forum user)

my question:

how long was skyhammer cooldown before any patches?
what was the event that made skyhammer cooldown long?

The answer is of the first question is simple : too short. Explanation below.

When the Steam Beta Testing started, Skyhammer was obviously one of the most played Mercs since he was available right off the bat (as well as Aura). His airstrike used to have a cooldown around 55 seconds if I remember correctly, but because we was overstacked on any kind of map he used to make any EV map extremely painful to play since airstrikes would come extremely oftenly to get rid of the EV. Splash Damage solved the issue by increasing Skyhammer’s Airstrike CD to 70 seconds or so, which is fine considering the massive Area of Effect covered by the airstrike and the fact that it’s a guaranteed downed EV.

Skyhammer is on par with the other fire supports. CD is long, but its power is unmatched.
