Hopefully that will spread to the users of this forums General section

2.60b[/quote]

Thats a security fix, it doesn’t really count, hence the reason its not 2.61

Yeah, I exagerated a bit. Tried to make it as blunt as possible. I see it as dying because I think QW will sweep up many of the players.

ET is free, imo that will keep it alive for many more years, just look at RTCW Demo, it still has active players, I know guys that still play ET Fuel Dump demo in LAN parties, the gameplay of ET alone will keep it alive for quite a while

Not to mention the whiny game purists who just refuse to play ET:QW.

(jimb0) #25

heh… while I don’t disagree that the original ET is a great game, I can’t help but remember a conversation which I had with a friend of mine… we were both ET players and it was on the day the ET:QW bomb was dropped on the interweb… it was something like this:

<me> dude, you don’t know what just happened!
<him> what?
<me> they announced a new ET game!
<him> really?!
<me> yeah! it’s set on a futuristic/sci-fi environment, humans vs stroggs, and has vehicles, and big maps!
<him> this will be a big load of shit.
<me> …

he has kinda changed his opinion about etqw on the last year or so though. but still talks about rtcw2 as the second coming (even though we know almost nothing about it).

it would be nice to have:
trap_R_LightForPoint
bmodels from external bsp!!! ( must have )
projectional dlight flag ( instead of horrid vertex one )
playermodel tools
improved trace functions
and up some limits ( esp jaybird’s and chruker’s requests )

(Floris) #27

ET is not dead and not dieing either, last year it was still the #3 game at ClanBase OpenCup / EuroCup, and if you look at how the cups were run you will see the ET EC / OC have more and better match reports etc …

RTCW2 is overhyped from the start, seeing it will be released on xbox 360 first I dont see it going anywhere, but the hype might make it a popular game.
