I completely agree.
Rainbow Six had the same problem. Just dudes walking around, shooting. The shooting mechanics weren’t as interesting as say, CS, so there wasn’t much going for. Then Raven Shield introduced a whole slew of very strong incapacitating effects and suddenly the game was fun again.
The beauty of incapacitation is that you still need to be there to make the kill. Without it the effects pass and it’s harmless. However, as long as the effect (whichever effect) is in effect you’ll be a sitting duck and a free kill.
Turrets should be snaring and ruining your accuracy rather than killing you out right. Mines should be throwing you around, and nades should have a similar knock-out effect. All of this should be survivable if the enemy isn’t paying attention.
It would make everything so much more fun. Suddenly team work matters more. You can kill off opponents that your friend ensnared or jump in and cover a friend that just got messed up. It’s no longer 1on1 duels either. Single individuals get to dominate an entire opponent team or save their own mates by cleverly placed incapacitating.
That’s how it works in Raven Shield and there really isn’t much more satisfying than giving your completely messed up opponent a mercy shot.
Also my boss finally gave me a new pc so I think I can get back into this game soon again. That is, if I’m not rendering and baking
