New OXM Brink Preview

(3Suns) #1

Another preview is up and “Shipyard” is the name of another level in the game!

From the OXM online article:

The tension is immense as we sit listening to the sound of scampering terrorists desperate to hunt down the lone Security hero attempting to quell their uprising. Then, well, it all abruptly ends with several shotgun blasts to the face. But it backs up the fact that Brink (much like Left 4 Dead) is going to be very much an anecdotal game – one that will prompt no end of ‘Wasn’t it awesome when… ?’ conversations after games with your friends.

Thanks to Brinkishfor the heads-up! :stroggtapir:

Man, that’s old school.

Well at least I don’t have to buy the magazine to read the article, well at least I am sure the two articles are identical.

Man, if I actually bought the magazine just for the article, and you show me this, man, will I be pissed lol. Good thing I didn’t buy the magazine.

You are right! How embarrassed am I! :o (Actually, I never got to read the OXM article so it was new to me - though in my excitement, I missed the Shipyard=Container City.)

Oh well, I guess if there is so little news, even the old articles appear new again. LOL

To quote Star Wars:

“These aren’t the droids you are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.”

Sorry, everyone. D’oh!

but this link is actually good, because I don’t need to look at the magazine anymore. Before they posted it, the only place anyone could have read it to find info on the game was from the magazine, and I just skimmed through it when I was reading the magazine in the bookstore. Now I can slowly read the things anytime I want, until the game comes out.
You are right! How embarrassed am I! :o (Actually, I never got to read the OXM article so it was new to me - though in my excitement, I missed the Shipyard=Container City.)
Not so fast buddy! It is a new article about a new map revealing new gameplay mechanics!

Mid-flow and suddenly distracted, Stern looks away, then back again with haunted eyes. “My manager just mooned me through the glass wall. He’s a pale fellow. It’s like… the exhaust of the Millennium Falcon. Slightly blue. Blinding light.”
I’m a bit at a loss at that part. What does mooned mean?

As each of these [command posts] are captured, they add to the health of your comrades or increase the shared power pool from which all heals, buffs and turret constructions are drained.
I hope that’s just an unlucky choice of words and the power pool is not actually shared between the team. It can be quite annoying when someone else is wasting your ressources.

Other than that it’s a nice article with quite a lot of new information!

the ability to control enemy turrets in a first-person fashion as an Operative and take-out unsuspecting foes

Sounds like fun

Like in Battlefield, hell no.

remind me 1st deus-ex, thief and bioshock

I never got my hacking skill high enough in Dx1 to control the turrets manually, I nearly forgot you could do that there

when you ‘moon’ someone, you show them your ass…and since he got mooned through a glass wall, it was probably pressed up against it.

Oh! In that case, vindicated! LOL Cheers! Now to get back to the new website and goodies.

And if there is mooning in the game, I would consider that a “taunt”. LMAO

(Rahdo) #13

That is definitely a misunderstanding on the author’s part. There’s no ‘team-wide power pool’. Everyone has their own power meter (of variable length depending on stuff like body type and other special class abilities).

That’s good to hear!
