New Missions?

(Drac0rion) #1

Quite a few missions have been removed from the game, because the community disliked them and I wouldn’t be too surprised if maybe another one will be removed soon as well(win x execution rounds).

With all the missions being removed, only very little different missions will remain.

So I was wondering, if the community could accept this challenge and actually come up with interesting missions, even if it isn’t too original but you find it could fit very well in to this game.

Any suggestions?

I’m a little doubtful. The only thing I could see is taking out a certain merc, or commendations for doing things as a certain merc. (Laying down ammo packs for people, calling air strikes, revives, etc…) split it up

“X amount of melee kills”
“X amount of headshots”
“X amount of revives”
All pretty basic i know, but I still think they could make for good missions.

None of these are interesting. All are just a subset of current Combat and Support XP missions, just more constraining. The melee one to a degree of being a serious burden to your team.

There has been numerous topics about missions and I don’t remember any good ideas. Missions are here to earn credits, not as an incentive to play. If you need missions to play then I would suggest rethinking why are you playing at all.

Sheesh, missions are supposed to be silly fun ways to get extra in game currency, and sometimes ways to open you up to more ways to play the game. The current support xp mission too open, they should split it up.

I like competitive modes myself but most people just play pubs, no need to ruin fun for the people who are no a part of the already empty competitive matchmaking.

I’ll say it again - if you need missions to play or have fun then I would suggest rethinking why are you playing at all.

That’s the exact opposite of what basic currency missions in a F2P game should do. Apart from SD constantly trying to force people into game types, other XP missions are broad and can be done while playing the game with the intention of winning. Running a whole match with a knife trying to earn credits makes the game worse for everyone in the server.

I personally just find interesting missions to be like a fun challenge, to try something different that you usually wouldn’t do.

Before I completed my first support xp mission, I never played medics, as I’ve never really enjoyed being a healer type in any game, but every now and then when I’m feeling like it and my team could use a medic, I usually pick Sawbonez and he has actually really grown on me, in fact he has become my 3rd most played merc.

My suggestions for new missions would maybe be:

  1. Earn X amount of badges.

  2. Assist xp: you would earn this from sticking together, killing an enemy that was damaging your ally, damaging an enemy your ally killed, staying close to someone who is planting / defusing / repairing / constructing / delivering / reviving.
Not sure how great this idea is, but I’d really like the thought of being rewarded for looking out for my buddies on the battlefield

Travel X meters without touching the ground (must travel at least Y meters through the air for it to count).

So basically, find a long corridor and wall jump as Aura.

Just some ideas what just came to my mind:
-X kills
-plant x bombs
-X kills with explosives
-Spot X Enemies
-Give X ammo
-Give X Health(It would be interesting to split support XP missions)
-X Revives

Here’s my take:

Most F2P games use daily missions as a way to encourage players to come back every day and to moderate income generation. They want to ensure both casual and dedicated players get enough income that the game feels fair (i.e. not pay-to-win) but not so much as to discourage players from spending real money.

I would like to DB try to adopt a similar system for its daily missions. Either a set of 3 missions each day or 1 mission that resets every 3 hours would be a lot more reasonable. Missions should be relatively token tasks like “Play X matches of [mode]”, “Earn X experience with [merc] in your squad”, or “Earn X [combat/non-combat] experience” (I dislike game-mode experience as its own quest because it is earned so unevenly across the maps).

To compensate for making missions more bland and less frequent, new types of missions could be created. I would love to see one-time only training missions, with a few becoming available each time you level up until level 10. A daily challenge with a modest credit reward could be a fun diversion for those so inclined (example: “As Fletcher, kill X players you have stuck”). Finally, long term quests every now and again would be a welcome addition. Lasting anywhere from a week to a month, players would be tasked with completing one or more tasks that require significant play time to accomplish. For example, if the current rotation was Proxy/Sparks/Stoker the quest might be to get 100 Proximity Mine kills, 100 Revivr headshot kills, and 100 double kills with the Molotov. Quests would ideally have some sort of special reward, like mid-tier case(s) or even a cosmetic for special events.
