new mercs and other dumb ideas

i miss the solder class form wolf ET
so how about a kid merc almost as fast as aura with a panzerfäuste/MG/flamethrower, dual machine pistols, and a grappling hook that could be used to swing over and down a flight of stairs or like Scorpion’s hook as a weapon.
running in gold room in goldrush with a flamethrower was awesome
or a merc with a shield and a literal hand cannon blunderbuss surgically attached to to their arm.
i know shields did not work in CS but DB is so much faster
or a merc with DOTS maybe throws a toxic vile that does damage over time or makes it harder to heal

also one thing that really mad WolfET one of the greatest games was that anyone could make a mod for it.
if you look back at when ET took off was just after users changed the game up.
i now this lead to cheating but there already are people cheating, and the game is designed well enough that cheating wont win you the match.
i love running proxy and hunting down some useless hack

new maps please they don’t have to be great just something new
any chance of porting a quake wars or wolfET map in

get rid of afk self vote and just kick them

to even teams at start can the highest level player go one team then second highest to other and so on. i know this is not a real balance but would at least make the team look even at start
it does look bad when it four 20+ on one team and one person over 20 on other

last cheating
i don’t really care all that much about it because the game can be won be those who don’t cheat, but it is weird that the hack are so obvious and nothing is done about them.
i see people who never go up in lvl, but have cards from when the game started.
i dont see aimbots it is mostly wallhacks, i know that sniper can see around corners and detect people, but when someone is keeping the name icon a players in their corner of the screen so not to look directly at them but know when they are coming is despicable and needs to be stopped

but even if you don’t change the game it is still a blast to play, it is so fucking fast.

also how about a way to correct typos in a post. there may already be a way to do this but i dont see it

something that would be much harder and i never really expect would be a way to know how many people are directly fighting me when i die. maybe have a large invisible around that counts how many other players are close and how many are friends or enemies

I basically found out how to win every game
-Add 5 points per shotgun
-Add 3 points per monkey boy
-Add 3 points per ghetto girl
-Remove 10 points per >10 level without a shotgun
-highest points win

Already a rocket launcher merc rumoured to be in the works named Javelin.

Grappling hooks are an icky subject. One one hand, “yay, mobility!” On the other hand, “boo, that merc can move in a way that others can’t!” Depending on the implementation, it can either be OP, UP, or useless.

Shields have been suggested to death, and the general consensus here is that they don’t work in a fast paced game like DB.

AOE DOT is already held by Stoker. Multiple ideas ranging from tear gas to slime have been used, and none have really been a viable alternative to the molotov.

That would ruin the game.
Just throughing together a bunch of mercs and maps, “it doesn’t have to be good”, would ruin it.
Quality not quantity…

Flamethrower - we have stokers incendairy grenade, it wouldn’t make sense to have a new one.
Shield - Turtle will have a shield which he and put down, move and adjust to block routes and/or provide cover for the team.

WolfET - this isn’t anywhere near WolfET.


I love mobility mercs and ways we can have their abilities based on that. I considered a grappling hook which could well work, especially as an escape device and quicker movement around the map. So I’d like to see someone come up with a grappling hook mercenary.

Fair play, around the same time I was thinking about it too. I’d likely give them shotguns to work hand-in-hand with the grapple. Potentially a different name too, something unique that hints to the ability but doesnt just say it. I’ve replied here cause I don’t want to necro old threads.
