New Merc: Tracker

(PoisonBoost) #1

Name: Tracker

Nationality: Canadian or German

Class: Recon

Health: 100

Speed: 440 or 450

Ability 1: A dart gun that holds 4 darts. The tracker darts have to be shot into a player and only detect the player. It will do no damage and will breakdown 10 seconds after hitting a player. It recharges a dart every 15-20 seconds and has the Revivr's (Sparks gun) bullet speed and accuracy.

Ability 2: Teleport. Teleport would be used to get out of a bad situation or gain a flanking route. It will teleport the player back in time 3 seconds. The cool-down is 30 seconds and upon use users will suffer a -10% health.

Primary: Hochfir, Kek-10, Crotzni, Driess-AR*, FELIX*

Secondary: M9, Deagle, or Machine Pistols (TOLEN and the other one, I forget the name.)

Melee: Beckhill, Stilleto, Cricket bat

  • The Driess-AR and FELIX give player the ability to use Tracker as a sniper rather than a close quarters recon

Interesting, I like the idea of a dart gun thingy. I don’t really like the teleport, I just can’t picture it in dirty bomb. I guess it could work but I would like a longer cool down and a kind of delay until it starts actually teleporting and then around .5 seconds of teleporting time.

I don’t like the teleport ability, but the dart ability sounds really nice.

Dart-tracking sounds great! (actually no complaints there) - Teleports… (awkward pause)
er… prep for game-breaking bugs? - best example would be on the first point of underground: allowing this merc to reach the plant point on attackers almost as fast as the defenders. Clipping out of the map boundaries could also be problematic. - While having a character similar to Tracer from Overwatch would be super-fun, the merc would change the dynamics of certain maps. Teleporting through walls or even around corners can mislead opponents. Seems fair, but no fun to play against.

Dart tracking really makes no sense, being that Vassili and Red Eye already track mercs just by looking at them.
Besides, if you had the choice to either go as Vassili and kill an enemy with a headshot as well as marking them or just shoot them with a dart and mark them only for 10 seconds without really doing anything, what would you choose?
It’s a cool idea, but it doesn’t at all compare to the other recon merc abilities.

And “teleporting back in time”? I’m sorry, but that just makes absolutely no sense. Teleporting in general is already kind of iffy, but you can’t go back in time in a multiplayer game. Not only is that pretty much impossible in the game engine, but what would that be like for the other players?

@STARRYSOCK https://youtu.be/Ara1dYUMGgw you’re welcome.

(Press E) #7

Lol that’s just jumping back to your previous location, not actually going back in time.

Something like this would be pretty cool actually, but “time travel” isn’t really viable in a PVP game :stuck_out_tongue:

You also heal any damage you’ve taken with tracer. Any status effects such as de-buffs or shields/heals also are reverted to your previous state.

(Press E) #9

Well this isn’t necessarily Overwatch. :stuck_out_tongue:

Healing also seems like it would be a bit OP for this game, but idk.

This reminds me of a merc suggestion I saw once, I think there were a grand total of 4 or 5 threads written for it…? Anyway, it was a bow-and-arrow merc and one ability shot a radioactive arrow that didn’t do any damage but combined with a radiation detector could be used to spot people who got hit with it. It was pretty interesting, and I wouldn’t have any complaints if it got into the game.
Yours is slightly different, temporarily forgetting the teleport because i seriously doubt it’s even a remote possibility while humans continue to use ballistic weapons, the dart gun has 4 shots, with each shot lasting 10 seconds and has a CD of 15 secs(what’s with the 15-20 anyway? Will some darts take longer than others to come back or something?).
My question is, why do I want to be able to know where a maximum of 4 people that I or someone else playing this character saw at some point in time and shot for 10 seconds at a time? Vassie’s snowball is useful to know the locations of enemies in an area(lost one game of bridge when a vassie found that the last point had no one and simply walked over and delivered the obj) and mainly choke points to know if the enemy team are trying to go a certain route. Redeye’s IR can see enemies cloaked and obscured by smoke and has no range limit as far as I know, which is really useful if there’s smoke everywhere or something.
Point being, the existing recons’ marking abilities work in an area, not on individuals, and that’s because the individual doesn’t really mean a whole lot, groups do(I think).
If the cd were shorter and effect lasted longer…maybe it’ll have some use, though I doubt it, personally.

Ok the teleport is just like that overwater person but going backwards not forwards and the @TheRyderShotgun cool down is because I don’t know how long it should be, either 15 or 20 seconds I’m not sure.

(PoisonBoost) #12

By back in time I meant 3 seconds of travel time, you would just be where you were 3 seconds ago

(HunterAssassin5) #13

That’s even worse. Teleporting backwards, not too bad, going back in time is straight up impossible without it being basically teleporting backwards, because that would involve pulling everyone else back in time as well as somehow erasing their memories of the events prior to said time travel. Let’s not continue down this road of sarcasm.
Anyways, teleporting backwards/time travel. Like I said before, I think it’s impossible as long as humans still use ballistic weapons. Just give it up.

(PoisonBoost) #14

@TheRyderShotgun I don’t think you understand, teleporting just puts YOU just you were you were 3 seconds ago.

(HunterAssassin5) #15

In any event, for the third, and hopefully last time:
TELEPORTING / TIME TRAVEL / WHATEVER THE FUCK YOUR NAME FOR THAT SHIT IS WILL NOT GO THROUGH BASED ON THE FACT THAT PEOPLE THERE STILL USE GUNPOWDER AND METAL PROJECTILE WEAPONS
