New merc free rotation might make some ppl quit/stop playing the game

Cant compare no engineer with that nexon put up this time.
There are several posts on both forum/reddit and a lot of ppl are complaining about it, also i dont think as a nexon employee or forum voluntee you will speak against the company, not until its a mess that you cant cover up, this time its possible that it dont get that big. Companies like that only care about numbers, and with the huge E3 propaganda even with the amount of veteran players not playing/new players quitting you guys might keep the same amount of regular players online

Btw here is a question for you: Did you played the game with the new rotation and had fun with it? [/quote]

I have Nader. This week is a barrel of fun for stationary Vaselines and lumbering Rhinos.

(Dirmagnos) #22

This rotation is a complete fail.
If playing objective werent hard enough be4 in pub games, now 70% of games its just Rhino mob on Rhino mob.
Herd of Bushwalkers i can get(they are at least repairing/planting/disarming), but seriously, bunch of sh tanks turned game into complete deathmatch.
Even if they hold area, no1 is even trying to do objective, they just wander around like brainless bots and spin their miniguns.

(turquoiseFisherman) #23

I’ve yet to see a good Vasilli, Rhino is quite easy to kill the problem is the number of Rhino’s together but even then a tonne of Rhino’s with no support is insta-win for you I agree with Bushwhacker though. Free mercs are always going to be a problem though, you just kinda have to adapt to the Pub-meta it introduces for the week.

To me the problem is the amount of players falling back onto Skyhammer because they can’t use these free mercs to their max potential. 6 Air strikes in a row ain’t fun.

@swashbucklingAntelope

You’re playing pubs. You should expect things to not always be balanced, or go your way, or to always have access to all classes of mercs. If you want to be able to affect the game, play with others you know ( it’s not hard to find people! )

I also don’t see how having them all on rotation at once is a bigger issue. If you have an issue with Bushwhacker in great quantities, then surely it’s better to have players spread over more, uh, ‘unpopular’ mercs, as opposed to having them all play Bushwhacker.

(Lautréamont) #25

My Nader loves this rotation.

(Jojack) #26

I think the solution is to limit free mercs to one, and to have each person have their own personalized free merc. Not the same for everyone. Make it a random order for each account that cycles through all mercs so people can’t complain they always get the same merc or never get a certain merc.

From a TDM standpoint this rotation is great. Stationary Vassili’s standing in the open looking only through scope, stampeding Rhino’s thinking they are invincible falling in droves like buffalo off a buffalo jump and crazy Bushwhackers trying to panic drop their turrets in the middle of a fire fight. These are all free kills.

However, the objectives are being forgotten and every game seems to turn into a massive TDM match for everyone except a side 1v1 match for the objectives. I play this game because it’s a team based objective game. This rotation takes much away from that.

(lemonLugnut) #27

What about pulling them up to 50k each (yes i know ppl will complain because so other ppl where able to buy 50Ks at 30K thats why they stay) and discount by 30k for first merch and 20k for second merch you buy and stop weekly rotation?

(reliableTortoise) #28

well b4 server maintiance i play a round of 6v6 where there were literally 9 vasilis sniping… and 3 people trying to play the objective around the objective… it was hilarious

(Yak) #29

My main problem with this week’s rotation is that literally no one is playing medic. 4 games in a row I was the only medic on either team.

(Ardez1) #30

But Sparks will be released soon(hopefully with this downtime right now) Medics on the way!

(Fleshpound) #31

And that one will be overloaded like in any games(I still remember some games with new weapons and people called it automaticly OP :I) for a reason of being a sniper kind of medics.

Don’t mind me but i am going to buy it… and shoot everyone with revive gun

(MissMurder) #32

I know this is going to be an ongoing discussion so I just want everyone to remember that the free rotation is in place so everyone gets to try out the new mercs. If there aren’t a bunch of Rhinos there will be a bunch of Naders and so on. Also it gives you a chance to figure out what the best defense against said merc will be.

(capriciousParsely) #33

Agreed. But in the future it would be better if you don’t put 3 defensive characters in the same rotation.

(Lumi) #34

Still, if you insist on having a LoL type rotation then you should really consider limiting mercs in game. I mean, you have enough mercs right now to restrict each mercs to a unit per game, at least in 6 vs 6.

Because the issue with all of this thread is that multiple identical mercs are taken, because individually each merc ahs strengths and weaknesses, but they can be countered. For example: Rhino is slow, so you can circumvent his defensive position, but not in the even where each access has a rhino camping it. It seriously unbalances the game.

Hence, either reduce the amount of mercs in rotation and possibly even the rotation time, or restrict mercs in games.

(cornJester) #35

Please don’t place a merc limit on casual matches as the above poster suggests. I completely understand if that is done in comp but in casual we should be able to play our favorite mercs whenever, the ones people spent real money or a lot of their personal time getting.

I also personally like that it’s a two week rotation, that gives you plenty of time to play while you save and completely understand this new merc you enjoy. Makes the grind less painful for sure.

(Szakalot) #36

this will never work.

Multiple f2p accounts - all mercs available - no business model.

Problem as usual is 8v8 pubs, where a multitude of one merc breaks the game. doesnt matter if its 6 naders, auras, rhinos or bushwhackers; if you have too much of a single merc type their advantage builds up more and more, and game becomes a grind.

Ive been saying it since January I think:

  • nerf ALL in-game cooldowns on 8v8 servers
  • nerf cooldowns on multiple’s of each merc (each next bushwhacker is longer cooldowns for all bushwhackers)

W:ET would fall apart too if you didn’t have arty/airstrike limits.

(Old Man) #37

The rotations should be more balanced from the gameplay perspective. There should be always a medic, a support or engineer and one assault class or recon class in them. This rotation is rather terrible and encourages lack of team work. People get bored of playing the same basic classes again and WILL try others, basically breaking the gameplay with this rotation.

(Lumi) #38

I like your suggestions, but imo anything other than 6vs6 is not worth playing anyway as one can clearly see that the maps were designed for small teams.

I actually have thought for quite some time that there should be one engineer on the free from the start mercs selection. Also, one could envision that you can only chose one merc to try out from the three each week. So as to not have an owerflow of the same mercs all over. For instance now, one could chose rhino which would be the only one available to a player during a week and then one could chose again. But having the three at once kinda sucks. One enters a game and there we have 50% of the players with the 3 rotation mercs in their squad…

If “literally no one is playing medic”, you’re not playing medic. Which means you’re part of the problem you’re describing. Which, in turn, while it doesn’t entirely invalidate what you’re saying, does sort of lower the impact.

Don’t get me wrong. I get you. I don’t always want to play medic, and I wish other people would. In the end, though, if you’re playing public matches, it’s pretty much live and let live ( well, as merc choices go ). If you’re playing comp . . . well, it’s the same thing, really, unless you’re playing with friends. In which case you have awful friends.

I should have made it more clear, I was the only medic. I bought sawbonez a few days ago and I’ve been playing him exclusively this rotation because no one else is bothering to be a medic. It really sucks when I go down, because the rest of the team is screwed for the next 20 seconds if they also go down.
