Adrian

Merc Overview
Injects adrenaline shots to help teammates perform better in fights during crucial moments of the game.

Profile/Lore
After dealing drugs with his best friend since he was 14, Adrian quickly climbed to the top of the drug syndicate hierarchy in Miami. In order to secure a new batch of drugs, Adrian flew over with his best friend over to London to negotiate the deal. However, everything quickly changed when he discovered that a rival group had planned an ambush. Although, Adrian had barely escaped with his life, his best friend was grievously injured and he had no idea how to save him. As he watched his best friend die in his arms, he resolved to learn more about medicine which led him to the medical school that Aura attended. In the next few years, Adrian became a top-notch doctor and began experimenting with drugs which led him to be kicked out of the school. Following Aura’s footsteps, Adrian decided to test his new drug in the field.

Abilities
Adrenaline Shots (Primary)
Adrian can inject an adrenaline shot to his teammates when they are close to him or to himself. The adrenaline shot gives an additional 30 health buff and a 10% movement speed boost to any player injected for 12 seconds (10 feels a little short while 15 feels a little too long, so 12 seconds is based off Molotov burn duration). When 12 seconds is up, any additional health above the merc’s actual health pool will be gone while the merc will suffer a 10% movement decrease for 12 seconds. At the start of the game, Adrian starts with 3 adrenaline shots and the cooldown for each adrenaline shot is on a 10 second cooldown.

Defibrillator (Copied from wiki)
Adrian can revive incapacitated team-mates using his Defibs. The longer these are charged before releasing, the more health the players has when they are revived. They can also be used as an offense weapon against enemies, dealing more damage with longer charges.

Author Notes
Dirty bomb is definitely one of my favorite games because of the diverse teamplay and the fun experience it gives the player. However, after the containment update has been on for a while, the overall gameplay diversity still feels a little stale in my opinion. There isn’t necessarily a situation where each individual game feels unique to its own and I feel that it’s particularly due to the fact that we can only select 3 mercs in our squad but that’s a topic for another day. I really want Dirty bomb to be successful so here’s my idea for a new medic merc, Adrian!

I’m sure that the SD Devs can further refine Adrian into a more balanced and complete merc and I really hope that they will consider this merc concept because I feel that it’d really help Dirty bomb more fun in general. I’ve realized that DB is lacking a medic merc that is really strong in pushing. An example would be pushing into Chapel’s last objective and having to rely on airstrikes to actually be able to collapse the defense. I feel that Adrian would really help in that regards in terms of what medic players can do in crunch times. Also, take note that the cooldown timings and the stat boosts the Adrenaline shot provides is just an example, we will have to test it out to make it balanced.

Lastly, for the rest of you readers that have reached the end of my post, I sincerely thank you for reading all the way to the end. I’m honestly not sure how the community will think about this concept so I hope that you’d give me your thoughts and any suggestions to help make Adrian a better merc and hopefully, convince SD to put Adrian into the game. Thank you <3

so…basically spork’s REVIVR gun that doesnt rez but instead buffs speed and has overheal?
and…where’s his normal heals? what happens if he jabs a friendly not at full health? if he jabs an enemy?

@TheRyderShotgun Hey Ryder, thanks for replying!
To answer your questions, Adrian’s Adrenaline Shots are not ranged like sparks, they can only be used when the teammate is close (think of it as a realistic injection distance).
Also, if he jabs a friendly that is not at full health, eg. 37 hp, the merc will have 37+30(overheal) with the 10% move speed for 12 seconds. Same effect applies for enemies, in terms of Sawbonez and Sparks’ med packs.

Adrian’s strength does not lie in healing teammates, if not that would make him a carbon copy of the rest of the medics. Adrian’s strength lies in giving the additional support to help teammates make the extra push with the overheal and movement speed boost.

useful with teamwork, i like that, and short range, too, but i cant help but see players with adrian(btw, the names have to allude to their roles or personalities to a point. a guy pointed out bushwhacker doesnt whack any bushes even though its what he’s called, but still) jabbing friendlies at the start of a match to get the xp and cause them to slow way down once they actually get into a fight(because the first shots are usually exchanged about that much time into a round). it could be shorter if both teams had adrians, in which case the problem could solve itself.

by the way, if i could suggest an alternate name for adrian, i’d say “hype”. “stim” has been taken by a previous merc suggestion, else i wouldve went for that instead.

@TheRyderShotgun,
I originally came up with the concept for Adrian when I realized that there isn’t many mercs that have the ability to push. Most of the time, you’re waiting for a random pick with an airstrike or explosive when the opponent team is organized. This creates a long stalemate where each team is shooting at one another and going back to cover to get healed - rinse and repeat. I feel that this is a wasted opportunity where the SD can add something unique to break stalemates.

Yes, Adrian’s adrenaline ability is really strong but it comes with a backlash where Adrian is unable to heal his teammates so I wouldn’t feel that it’d disrupt the merc balance too much.
And the problem where you talk about jabbing friendlies at the start is definitely likely. It’s pretty much the same situation where skyhammer drops all the ammo at the spawn point even though the rest of his team is alive and too far away from spawn. Hype feels like a pretty dope name actually. B)

“Dope” is a dope name, “Dopamine”…not exactly fitting considering dopamine =/= adrenaline but hey.
