New matchmaking system?

Will the Tuesday patch feature an improved matchmaking system. ATM it feels like only 1/5 matches are remotely even, I find it seriously hinders and otherwise almost perfect game.
Thanks in advance for your time :stuck_out_tongue:

Well first, it’s not confirmed that the update will arrive on Tuesday, though it is the most likely date. The problem you may be having is using the Quick Join in general, it should NOT be confused for matchmaking, it simply finds a game and throws you in it, hence the name.

Try using Server Browser for finding matches, it’s faster and more reliable in getting you in something that has players, be sure to go through the filters so you’re not scrolling through the whole 1030+ servers when maybe a small percent will be useful to you. If you are level 5 or below, specifically look for Max Level 5 servers so that you may have an enjoyable experience with players around your skill level, if you are above, put “-Max” into the filter so that it will no longer show you those servers since they wont be accessible(Just helps to reduce clutter and false hopes).

Let me know if this information has helped you get better matches in the future, the system isn’t perfect but it’s gunna be worked on some day.

I don’t think so, there are anti-cheat tweaks, report a player in game and a new merc coming that is 100% happening. There was going to be private servers implemented but SD said that they have encountered a problem with it so it is unlikely to come with the next patch which maybe released on Tuesday but if not some point next week is almost a given. Private servers will help with matchmaking until a better system is in place. When the private servers do get released, the steam group that im in will be hosting weekly events that will be alot more balanced than your regular pub games and alot more fun, heres the link come join us!

Edit: Heres the most recent news on the next update https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T907t-rzazo

I never understand why people think this game has a “matchmaking” for pub games… When it’s quite obvious that all you need to do to join a game is just go to Server Browser - Look around -> Pick a game and go slap some low levels cuz for some reason you’re level 38.

Self-reference whooooooooooooooooooo

Team balance in pubs is always tricky. If you do it by player level then its flawed because level just indicates play time and not skill. We currently dont have a stat system so it would not be possible to introduce something that goes off stats and skill as of now. Maybe in the future but we just have to be patient.

Balancing it on level would be a start, skill and play time are usually related.

Yea, this. I don’t know where the misconception came about that skill and level have no correlation to each other. It’s quite obvious that a level 40 is going to be decent (unless they used aura glitch… god help us all). I haven’t seen a level 20 that is complete garbage at the game or on the same skill level as a level 6.

Some people just keep forgetting one thing… sometimes people have off days. I’m by no means a “pro player” but under the right circumstances I get MVP quite often, then the next day I play it’s just me dying over and over getting worse as the match progresses. Seems to be one extreme with me, either I’m really good or really bad, never a middle ground(Usually this correlates with whether or not my mouse decides to work properly in matches, it’s really the worst thing ever to be tracking someone and then it cuts out, not allowing me to shoot in combat either).
