I love the ARK Laboratories architecture! Awesome.
New Maps other than DLC!
i wish that once upon a time when the sdk comes out there will be brink-versions of the classy rtcw and et maps. that would be awsome
…
Any idea how many maps are included with W:ET and ET:QW total? (BTW This isn’t counting the custom maps for both games which I played a bunch of.)
-JJ
W:ET => 6 standard maps (2 campaigns, 3 maps each)
ET:QW => 9? (3? campaigns, 3 maps each)
It looks great, and so far I think every artwork shown also is an actual part of the map (that’s the case in the maps we currently have) so especially if they do it right the founders tower will look amazing (and dare I say, performance dropping?
)
the scaffolding around the tower in the picture is interesting element.
I’m guessing its set after it was blown up by the rocket, and that’s them rebuilding. Wonder if you can fall out the side and die
Do you reckon we might see a “Black Hawk Down” style scenario? I’m thinking after the successful win for security on shipyard, they still lose their chopper, but we don’t see the crash. Wonder what happened to those guys.
fall out the side or knock someone off to their doom. whuahahaha! did the tower in fact get hit by the rocket? is it another what if? or is everything going forward a series of bigger what-ifs?
Really looking forward to these new maps + wonder where they’ll fit in to the campaign/story too. - I assume we’ll get cut-scenes etc with them just like the existing ones?
I don’t really get the ‘What-ifs’ to be honest. I mean there’re only 8 levels after all… Not sure why SD chose these ‘extra’ scenarios rather than just a straight continuation of the story. I know story’s not what the game’s about per se, but still.
Not complaining really, all the maps are excellent and the ‘What-ifs’ are certainly not of a lower quality than the ‘main’ ones. I’m just talking purely in terms of story branching rather than continuation.
I guess the what-ifs make it an open-ended story. like a parallel universe thing. somewhat like the show Lost. I remember the days of choose-your-own-adventure books back in the 80s.
great artwork
hope to see more of container city… that would be great… i like the dust and rusty look!

So, 6 + 12? Are we counting individual maps or doubling the number per side (I guess I could just install ET:QW on my new compy to check but I am lazy and to busy playing Brink).
Either way, I can handle 18 (maybe 20) maps if I played them often enough to stay familiar with them.
That was my guess too.
Good question. In the Security campaign “Day 6: Early Launch” is not a What-if but I assume Security is supposed to win that one. For Resistance the same map is “What-if: Operation Babel” and assuming they win that then the tower is definitely busted. So it seems that the DLC maps (or at least the Founders Tower) may be a What-if.
Here is the description from the PC stats site for the new map:
Founders Tower
The centerpiece of the original Ark, the iconic spire houses the original Founders. Rumors of a Resistance plot see Security forces being deployed to the area.
Maybe the construction we see in the pic is some kind of retrofit or Security is building some kind of defensive structure around the tower?
Ah, the days of constantly flipping back to an earlier page so you didn’t die. Good times.

Hey guys back again with 3 additional map ideas thanks to the guys from the Brink/Bethesda forums. Naval Base, Arkoral Mines and Wave Harnessing Energy Plant.
i thought about something like a greenhouse.
in generel i would like to see a map where the atmosphere and gameplay changes. you start outside and have fights on a more open space an then have to intrude a building and the battle moves into the building.
something similar to sec tower, but with a bigger focus on indoor fighting.
Crumbling solar arrays over a sun bleached stretch of ferro-crete. Decaying Arkoral has left the superstructure understrength and craters of broken 'crete and reo abound. In the access tunnels beneath is a generator, succumbing slowly to the decay of a saline environment, irregular bulkheads and poor lghting (second part of map, contrasting withthe stark white/grey of the first part). Obj : Perhaps the jury-rigging of a conduit/pipe siphoning from the founders dwindling energy supplies to feed the guest pelgo’s.
You’re right, it is. The chopper you have to blow as the 1st Obj is the chopper Sec downs at the end of SY.
