New maps are campaign

I’m not sure if anyone really noticed so I feel I should point this out. If you go to xbox.com and check out your achievements or just look at one of the lists posted with the qualifications for each one you will notice it says to earn the first two you must complete each factions mission in “campaign.” That’s good news I think a little story expansion anyone?

All the current maps are in campaign , aint they ?

(BiigDaddyDellta) #3

yeah but we weren’t sure if they would be what if or actually expand the exsisting “story.”

(Achtung) #4

I figured this. The games set up for it and the very very open story is as well. If i knew there were to be a ton of DLC comiin for Brink this would indeed be great news.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #5

i agree it would be nice to have some insight into the future.

I noticed that when I saw the achievements too, I was very excited to say the least. I’m very interested to see how they’re going to expand the story exactly.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #7

As far as im concerned they could do a map for almost every single area on the Ark. Even if it was a second seperate story like instead of trying to get a plane to fly it was a ship or the red submarine they were to salvage for a long journey or something. There can’t be only one plan to get off the Ark right? Plus as open as the story is it would fit very nicely.

Normally I would agree with you about the one plan thing, but it’s Chen. I mean, he didn’t even tell his men about the bluff until it was too late. Should they not have known that before the battle? However, it would be cool if all DLC maps were What-If missions. It would also be cool if they somehow continued the storyline, or even had prequel maps or something. The Ark is an endless land of possibilities basically.

The men took it upon themselves and took matters into their own hands. They were disobeying Chen, as a splitter-cell is how I looked at that mission, Ultima.

(Ultima) #10

So he told them, but they didn’t listen? I could see that when you look at some Resistance members. I believe that most of them are fighting for what they believe is right, but there are a few extremists definitely. Security is the same, as with every group. You could be right though, those few could’ve broken off in a sense and started doing there own thing, disregarding Chen completely.

(wolfnemesis75) #11

Its hinted at in the Shipyard mission I believe. They start to discuss the fact that brother Chen is too busy and how his hands must remain clean. And then it starts to escalate in to that group that attacks the reactor is a splinter cell. That’s how I read it.

That is exactly how I see it too.

The achievements require you to beat the new maps in campaign mode as each side. Based on the rest of the campaign 50% of the maps put a side on offense while the other puts your side on defense. Labs is Res off while tower is Sec off (based on stats site). For each side 1 version will likely be the reality and the other the what if similar to what’s currently provided for in the campaign. Both versions of what happens at Labs/Tower can’t be true (both sides can’t have won on each map; Offense/Defense, Res/Sec).

(BiigDaddyDellta) #14

…what? all you need is a win on each team.

(wolfnemesis75) #15

Yeah. You have to win four times. Both factions for each map.

(nephandys) #16

Yeah a win on each team for each map. That means that each team has both maps as an option to play in campaign. One time through they’ll be on offense, one time on defense. That means one version of the map has to be the reality and the other the What if. You’re going to play Security on Labs/Tower and Resistance on Labs/Tower. Both versions of the map on one side can’t be the reality (Resistance can’t win on offense and defense on Labs for example, one of those versions would have to be true and the other the What if…). This is also why in the current campaign you never play the same map 2x on one side, unless one version is the What if…

Science Maven 50
Win Labs as both factions in Campaign Mode
Towering Achievement 50
Win Founders’ Tower as both factions in Campaign Mode

(BiigDaddyDellta) #17

dude every map has both teams, one offense one defense. you have to win once for each team how is that hard to figure out? lol. One offense one defense each map.

(nephandys) #18

Dude that’s exactly what I said. I don’t know how to explain it better so oh well…

(BiigDaddyDellta) #19

oh lol, the way I said it… like in one sentence

(BROTOX) #20

The DLC is obviously a continuation of the story… even the ending animation for both sides leaves it open-ended. Even if they are what if missions.
