New mappers may find this useful- beginner.map

This map is not for servers
This is a tutorial .map for new-mappers that just learned to make their first room. It has the .map and.bsp, also containing an arena file so new-mappers can access the .bsp easily in the game.
It comes up as “EB’s beginner tutorial” in the map list. It is setup with text prompts to explain in slight detail how to create what new-mappers see(using target_prints). Hopefully between the .map and the .bsp use, new-mappers can learn about doors,ladders,func_rotating,water,exploadables(not scripted),a teleport and some other things. This is version 0.9a and in the final version I will be extending the in game information more.

Bugs:(nothing for me to worry about)
The command map does not match up to in game coordinates.
The lighting is not ‘cleaned up’.

I will be making more example maps for tutorials after I get a little feedback on this one.

Well, I am always thinking about it. I had to rebuild most of the site as my computer took a hard dive about 2 weeks ago but I hope to have it setup sometime soon…Thanks for asking.

im so sorry that im bringing up old topic but: How can i get the .map out of .pk3?

EDIT: got it. its just a .zip with different extension. damn i feel stupid for bringing up this topic now! :bash:

Most pk3s actually don’t hold the .maps in them, so if you’re looking for the official maps the only one you can really open in Radiant is Gold Rush.
