**New map will be relased soon...**

(--Phoenix--) #1

Hello guys,I’m Phoenix and I’m Italian!
I’ve been in the world of Wolfestein since 2001,in 2005 i started creating my first maps only for personal use(playing in lan with my friends).
Some of those maps are really nice, one is a modified version of the RADAR(radar_phx) but unfortunately it’s NOT optimized(vis) because I created it only for personal use. I also used the skybox of breakout2 map.
I meant to optimize and make it public, but since when I updated my pc to windows 10 i have problems to open both the surgent or the official maps with all the versions of gtkradiant(they all crash).
If someone of you likes this map and would like to try and optimize it i can send the surgent.
The map has a waypoint too.
Screenshot:

The second one is a clone of the Dark map of RTCW in “day version”. Unfortunately I can not public this one due to the copyrights on the original textures of RTCW.
Screenshot:

Now I’m working to a new map; it will be based on the beautiful map Norway of Rtcw but it won’t be a clone: it will be a cbrand new map with(maybe) new features regarding the conclusion of the objectives.

Wolfestein meant a lot for me,it helped me to overhelm difficult periods…that’s why i will do my best to grant it as much time as i can!
Sorry my bad English,
Phoenix

Hello Phoenix!

Maps looks really nice!
Go to http://www.thewolfteam.org/
There are really nice guys that can help you out.
Looking forward to play these maps.

Hello Phoenix, nice work!

If you filter out models or entities in radiant, it won’t crash!

(KeMoN) #4

Hahaha
Although you might be technically right, this is absolutely nothing you need to worry about.
If it should ever come to the point where someone cares about the copyright of a 15 year old game, whose assets can’t be used for modern games anyway, then every other W:ET map needs to be taken down. However the great thing is it can’t be taken down and the authors (just like you) are anonymous behind an alias. Your maps look really interesting and would bring a fresh wind again, especially the conversion of ‘dark’! Please rethink about releasing them.
If you are still too unsure, just create another account - release the maps under that one - disable that new account - go back to your old one - officially say that was just an internal test version never meant for the public and you demand it to be taken down - profit

Looks good - would love to have a run in those maps - keep on working

Thank you ryven, i tried to active models filter and now i can open the source code without crashes! Now i can think to optimize radar_phx!

Hi KeMoN!
I saw a mod in HD is released for RTCW … http://www.moddb.com/mods/return-to-wolfenstein-hd-upgrade
Can I freely use your own textures that you created for that mod?
I also tried to download the mod but i have’t found any valid download link active. Can someone post a valid link to download this mod?
Sorry my bad English.

Hi,

Certainly you may use my textures. How did you know that I participated in this mod; Am I being credited somewhere? That’s really nice to hear!

Those textures were part of the alpha recreation-run for ET: Legacy and AidenDemon should have the complete pack of the textures I contributed. If they aren’t included in the download on modDB then you could simply contact AidenDemon for further support.

I still have the textures on my system, but I would have to sort out the *.psd from the *.tga and then upload the whole package. (My internet connection is quite bad) So for me it would be better if you could get the textures from AidenDemon.

Disclaimer:
Please note that mixing pak0 textures (256x256) with my recreated ones (2048x2048) (even from the alpha run, which has lower quality) will look weird and if you completely replace all textures with mine, your pack will be impressively huge for a map.

Again, there is no problem with using RTCW standard textures. You do not need to worry about copyright infringement (although admittedly we’re all technically in the wrong).

You can read your name on this link! ^^ http://www.moddb.com/mods/return-to-wolfenstein-hd-upgrade

Thanks for your time! Now optimize radar_phx for pubblic relase and then I will decide about the RTCW textures for dark map!

(Teuthis) #9

Nice pictures. Seem to be well designed maps. Why keeping them private? I kept some private too but main reason is/was that the gameplay was not great so kept them under the radar and learned from my mistakes

(--Phoenix--) #10

because both maps are not optimized to be published . also to create the dark map I used a lot of RTCW textures . Now I’m optimizing the radar_phx map, soon i Will relase the beta3 version.

[QUOTE=ryven;547722]Hello Phoenix, nice work!

Same issue with 8.1; Enabling rendering distance limit also avoids the crash btw.

(ryven) #15

Did you mean cubic clip? Cause that thing doesn’t help that much and radiant still crash.
Btw event viewer logs this:

Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00004493
Faulting process id: 0x5478
Faulting application start time: 0x01d198800c45446c

Faulting module path: C:[Apps]\GtkRadiant-1.6.5-20151108\modules\entity.dll

Could you maybe fill issue on github? as i know you are around there, so maybe some one or ttimo could fix that.

(--Phoenix--) #16

Thank you guys, i have resolved filtering the models!

Yeah I did forgot about the name and couldn’t fire up Radiant when I’ve written my post ^^’
The distance can be tweaked, past a certain distance it will crash; And so if disabled it’ll crash :stuck_out_tongue: Excepted if you avoid looking in a direction where there are models, or if you map doesn’t have a lot of models. I recal writing somewhere the exact line of code which were crashing, I’ll fill up an issue there then yes.

Edit: https://github.com/TTimo/GtkRadiant/issues/343

Started last year to make the empty model selectable like in 1.5, now I need free time to polish it @@

(Mateos) #18

Double-posting to say that TTimo fixed that issue, it’ll be available in the next release I guess. See the link in my previous post for details.
