Compile with -light plz, looks much better. Btw, when are you gonna work on a big(ger) map?
im work on desert castle, big map, but the terrain… its hard to model… 
and dynamite objective sometimes not working
If you want to see GOOD deathmatch maps, visit the quake3world forums. What about this map makes it good? The overly tiled texturing, saturated ambient lighting, or the simple quake2 geometry?

The entire ET community has a problem with any map that is not generically objective based.
no it has a problem with crap maps being sent out in the public and which damage the whole custom mapping reputation of ET
Locki - we all know you can do much better - and create an amazing map, even if it is a DM map. put some time into it and even you know you can do it.
Agreed - take a look at some of the smaller Quake 3 maps - nicely done, good connectivity, nice vertical aspect, variety of long range and short range combat options.
The problem exists with people who release crap maps because they think that a 1 v 1 DM map merely consists of a couple of rooms in which to frag

You shouldn’t be so upset by this fact. ET is not a deathmatch game. It is a team game. It has different classes with different abilities. This does not translate well to DM maps.
Also, the people here, are here because they like ET and what that signifies. When I want to play some good DM, I doubleclick quake3.exe. But honestly, I don’t like DM all that much. It’s boring to me to senselessly kill for hours on end. Objectives make the game more dynamic.
With all that said, feel free to make DM maps for ET. It’s your time to spend however you like. Just don’t complain about it when the maps are not well received!

yep - and this is what makes the non mapping public stick to only SD servers and they dont even bother to try and download a new custom map in fear that it will turn out to be a crappy map consisting of 4 rooms, a tracemap as a command map with boring tiled textures.
Agree and disagree Chavo. There have been some very good training maps released for RTCW that were great for practicing 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 dueling. The best one that comes to mind was arena_btest1.
I’d agree that a pure DM map will not have an extensive lifespan on any server, unless it’s purpose built for training and dueling and even then, it will have a somewhat limited appeal.
I guess I should have said I consider DM maps to be a different class than dueling maps. 
I agree that dueling maps have a place in clan play. But I get the feeling that what is being provided here was not designed with dueling in mind. (and maybe nothing in mind
)
I also agree that the greater problem with the latest rash of small DM maps for ET has been the lack of quality, not the fact that they are DM.

DM can easily be treated as LMS. So a very small LMS map would make a good DM map. It would be a real challenge to make a GOOD 1on1 map, i made a few for TFC a couple of years ago with 4 arenas so that all classes had their own arena to choose from. But it was easier for TFC as there was more teams to play with. So you could have one team being spectators in a closed room with a view over all arenas. We used that kind of maps for intern leagues in our clan back then.
I personally think a lot of DM maps are made because the author was too afraid to try and script objectives. :disgust:
