Hello mapping types
Firefly and myself have been building a new map called Vesuvius.
We decided it was about time to show some wip. screenshots
Playtesting in April - thanks =BD=
First beta May

WoW :!: amazing shots
nice work on details. the map looks really great  , hope the gameplay will be as good as the level design. cheers
Looks nice but basically very dark. Make sure you got a decent basic, dim brightness to ensure that you can actually spot your enemies.
I also hope this one will have a better layout than lighthouse. Lighthouse, while pleasing to the eye, has a terrible layout tbh.
Nice work.
Will you have the lava flow slowly take over the town as the game progresses, adding a sense of urgency to the whole thing?

Thanks for the comments ppl
stephanbay - same here
The layout has been well considered but playtesting will be interesting
]UBC[ McNite - yes - it is a darkish map with low sunlight - we’ve not finished lighting it yet - wip. but all players will be visible!
Lighthouse - oh well! bit of a learning process going on.
Axeman89 - omg … hope we don’t dissapoint!
mrlego - the eruption is going on in the beacground and doesn’t immediately effect the game - appart from the lava flow that the truck will have to cross.
Magic - looking forward to the testing - thanks!
[]v[] - cheers Kenny - thanks for Mary
Anyhow - thanks for the encouragement all, I’ll add more screenshots as we go.
Thanks for all the comments…
Some of the screenshots appear darker than they actually are ingame. Although the map is reaching it’s ‘first playable’ stage soon, we still have allot to do including adding more lights & tweaking the existing ones.
During the development of the map we were very focused on the overall layout: Both Axis as Allied team will have multiple routes towards the objective to avoid any bottlenecks. To ensure that the current layout will work or the map doesn’t contain any major gameplay issues we decided to test the map in several private playsessions before we release it to the public. ( thanks =BD= )
We’re also very pleased that Schaffer was willing to help us out and agreed to create the Command Map for us. Both me and MrFin worked with Schaffer on several other ET projects in the past…
Like Mrfin already said: We hope to have a public beta1 version ready around may, but that’s hard to tell and this really depends on the amount of changes that are needed after the private testing has ended…
Sorry Mrfin and Firefly but I have to post this:
OMFG this is beautiful and the FPS!!!
Can’t wait for the finished product
One job to do then I’ll concentrate on this one Neil
This map looks good enough to eat!!! More bigger screenshots to drool over would be nice
Well, the ‘first playable’ version of the map is almost done.
atm we are working on the final scripting and adding sounds to the map, after that the map is ready for a private playtest…
mrfin and I will post some larger screenshots this week
Guys if you need a server and a crowd that s experienced with playtesting… gimme a shout
We ll do it the good old no-leaking-possible-way too
Thanks McNite & macbeth.
We have some playtests arranged for the second week in April - some more in the following weeks would also be good. Perhaps sometime around the 3-4th week?
