New Map: The Office

First off, this is a map for RtCW, not ET. I just hope there are a few people out there still enjoying RtCW!! :smiley:

So after 4 months of mapping, learning, and more mapping, I’ve finished my first map! It’s called mp_office and it is a direct translation of the office building that I work in.

Now, even though it is a representation of a real building, I’ve taken gameplay into consideration with how I’ve structured the objectives. There’s a lot for engineers to do!

With the recent influx of 32 player maps, this one is a nice change of pace as it actually plays well with even a 3-on-3. So it would do well for a lan party. It can support 32 players as well, but I believe that would cause chaos to reign down. :slight_smile:

Objectives:

  • Allies must retrieve the passcodes from the server room on the first floor.
  • Allies can open up alternate paths to the server room by blowing up the fire doors, training room wall, and vending machines.
  • Once the Allies have the passcodes, they must take them to the computer terminal in the basement. Only then will the doors to the generator open.
  • Once the passcode locked doors have been unlocked, the Allies must blow up the basement generator to win the match.

I’ve played it and it is so confusing :bash: i go a round it looking at the colored walls. Has some very minr bugs too (no offense chavo_one)

  1. When you open terminal, you still have !over ur head which sucks. :angry:

  2. Dynamiting Training Wall and Fire Doors, You have to do it from one side :frowning:

But still, this is his first map and otherwise it is great

That is a ‘feature’ of RTCW, nothing can be done about it.

The green ! not disappearing was just a limitation of RtCW, as reyalP has pointed out. It’s annoying to me as well. Luckily, ET doesn’t have this problem anymore. :slight_smile:

Also, I made the walls dynomitable from one side for a couple of reasons.
The damage after the blast is customized to look like it happened from one direction. Also, since the map is so small, I did it for gameplay reasons as well.

It’s definitely not a map for someone to just hop onto and start fragging away on. But I think if you take the time to learn the layout and gameplay of the map, it’s a rewarding experience.

I’ve played this map about a month ago and it’s pretty awesome. It was a little bit confusing at first but after about 4 games I figured it out.

My only dissapointment was not being able to run around in the parking lot :frowning: :slight_smile:

yeah u should of made it so we could go outside into the parking lot and maybe snipe in to hte office :rocker: lol

I know u said it was almost exact but can you make it just a tad bigger?

make a v. 1.1 with it little bigger in the halways and make it able togo in that elevtor in the looby (lol) and have it so you can go outside

P.S. did you add that basement to the office or was there someting like that there?? :smiley:

No time to revisit this map. I’m working full steam ahead on an ET map right now. And as to the basement…I sure hope there isn’t anything like that underneath my building! :uhoh:

this seems like one i would enjoy. is there any servers running it regulary?
