new map (still no name :D )

ok so this is the map I’m working now on (it’s only beginn and my first map also)…

Screenshots below - the first part of map, where allies need to get into axis repair-base (?engineer-base) and steal tank; to get into base they need to blow up the main-gate (not there yet) or/and rear-wall of work angar(to get to this wall, they need to construct foot-bridge)
I think, after allies get the tank, they should get it through tunnel(not there yet) to the second part of map(still planning :smiley: )

Left side of the screenshot I plan to make the allies spawn in some kind of cave;
Right side is the rear wall of angar, with constructable foot bridge in front of it:

Axis will spawn on the bottom-left side;
Work angar has some bunker(in progress) to protect the rear wall;
In the middle of screenshot, between 2 mountains I plan to make the main gate:

Some screenes of the interior of work angar; I plan to make more details, like: pipes, cables, shelfs and some engines:

Would like to hear your comments and maybe suggestions about mapping and gameplay (objectives and spawns) also :wink:

Cool. Has a neat environmental feel to it. What program did you use to make your terrain?

I made terrain in Easygen, but I plan also to make more place in front of main gate, so that the allies have more possability for attack

have 1 question about terrain:

if the scales of map are: 5376x5376, is the size of terrain-polygons of 128 normal or too small (it’s most open terrain map)?

I wouldn’t concern about it aslong as you do the vis blocking nice and don’t go wild on detailing. I wouldn’t call the amount of tris you get out from it very high. I use 256 most of the times, 512 once (mountains in Duel Site). But I think 128 is normal.

For example: fueldump uses 256, oasis uses 128 etc.

maybe u could take a look on my map and tell me if it could be playable at all?
I would really appresiate it as a newbie in mapping :smiley:

Sure why not. But tomorrow. :slight_smile: Just drop me a pm. And I’ll give you my thougts about how it could be blocked and stuff. Maybe some ideas, just anything that comes to my mind.

Btw, I didn’t say yet, but it looks nice. :=)

Looks really nice only the environments around the map is a bit weird. The mountains stops at a point. Better make the mountains like they are bigger.

yep I’m working now on new terrain, I also made the space bigger in front of the main gate and the mountains higher overall :smiley:
