New map - mp_ruins

Made this map a while ago but now i see the forums are back online though i might post and see if anyone picks up on it. The rtcw scence is pretty much dead now but maby someone out there is interested

i also included the source .map file so anyone learning to map or just interested in how it was made would probably do no wrong to grab the file

Its only a small map made in the space of a week. The objective is a king of the hill style game where the aim is to hold the control point in the middle of the map for longer than the other team. From playtest is a pretty fast map and good for small teams of around 3vs3

i didnt know there was another king of the hill map for rtcw. any chance u can remeber the name? wouldnt mind a look at it

Haven’t seen that your map is for RTCW.
But I guess it’s also available for RTCW.
As far as I remember it’s simply called “King of the hill”.

At rtcwfiles.com I’ve only found an W:ET map.
So may be there isn’t another one for RTCW.

Any chance to get a conversion for W:ET?

maby but the source .map is included in the pk3 so anyone is free to have a crack at this. AFAIK the rtcw and ET maps and bsp’s are so similar that if the directory where i got most of the castle textures is copied into the pk3 and recompiled for ET it will probably work without any adjustment

I thought that Jaquboss even said that the BSP formats where the same. I could be wrong though.

Plus, the script and entity types could differ.

they aren’t, i think that ET has one version forward, but it loads RTCW ones
ET will crash cause grid render ( if you see Command Map/Compass ), you have to add mapcoords for command map ( RTCW will ignore it so it still would work with both )
yeah some script commands are different ( description ones )
that also needs to be changed
and dynamitables needs to be done differently in ET
best would be to do two versions, not really so much work anyway
