New Map: Loderunner

(bloodwire) #1

Download this map: HERE.

I’ve had this in development for a couple of weeks now and during the last week in test on arctic warfare alpha. Here are some screenshots:

These are just tumbnails (dunno how to make tumbnails on this forum system) I suggest going to the AW page, http://www.ekran.no/aw/ and click ET:loderunner to see more tumbnails with full screen links, the source to the map is/will be available there too.

And here is the readme file:

objective:

this map is a three stage ladder style game where allied forces has to
gather gold bars (white bars, they didn’t have gold colours on the
computers back then.) at each level there are three gold bars which
needs to be brought down to the bottom east corner, when all three
bars are secured, a ladder to the next level will be constructed and
the barricade to the teleporter to the same level will be removed.

umm first of all, i didnt know where to go in the first level and ultimatly exited b/c i got tired of going up and down ladders. also you might consider making the levels cushion brushs, b/c alot of ppl will fall to their death b/c they wont wait to climb down ladders, unless that was your intent. its pretty simple looking but i personally dont like hte fact that the whole map is like a series of non-stop bottle necks where some flame throwers will be able to slow the game down to a halt. could just be me, but i dunno

Going to try it out! Looks like its a cool map.

It looks interesting, I will try it tomorrow morning.

Not quite tomorrow morning, but here it is anyways:

Very, very cool. Lots of huge, sexy ladder falls.

A couple things, Commando is right, a cushion for some of the larger falls could be helpful, I wouldn’t cushion every ladder, a couple will kill you just falling one level, lots of jumping around and if you get shot at and fall and die, that would be annoying; it took me about 8 minute to complete the level without resistance, if you add in huge falls that kill, it could be difficult to win. Very cool map though, I would love to play that with a group of people. Maybe post an IP if you have it running on a server somewhere. There were a couple errors in the console about barrier_axis2 and barrier_axis3 not being found, scriptnames, I believe, perhaps something you would want to check out.

Oh, lot’s of feedback. About cushioning the falls, what fun would that be? The map is more about skills and manouverability. Axis coming in on higher levels can lead to some camping, but that would just be an ET first, as most maps I’ve seen it’s all about being fast and agressive.

Beta 2 was played on AWA for a while, and I found that the Axis had a bit of advantage with their high entry points, and camping style tactics. But the objective should be easy and fast enough to do in 21 minutes. In most cases where it was not done, I think it was the allied team had no clue what to do, so I improved on that by putting all the different teleporters right ahead of the spawn zone. I also made it a bit more clear that there were some shootable floor on the second level.

Thanks for your feedback all, the map is on: games.student.uit.no (Arctic Warfare Alpha, but there are other maps there aswell, and the server is quite full at certain times of the day) I’ve also put it on my test server at: tbh.org.uit.no (AW-Delta) - but its the only map that is on that server and there probably aren’t that many people playing there.

The fun would be not falling to your death every spawn
