New Map Idea: The Zone

Map thats set on the Ground Zeros of dirty bombs where CDA are the Attackers and Jackal the defenders. Where you have to blow up the underground bunker/bomb shelter with a special drone that needs to be controled by a merc in real time. Drone is in a aircraft hangar thats controled by Jackal. You take control of the drone by hacking the control panel. This map would be special because all mercs need to wear gas masks and if you shoot the gas mask you make a instant kill by radiation. This map would take few days after the dirty bomb attacks and the CDA would blow up the bunker to steal information that Jackal has and that info is who caused dirty bomb attacks on London.

All of DB’s maps are more or less the same, having one map that was so completely different would just confuse people or annoy, most of whom prefer the same tried-and-true recipe that’s worked so far.
More than that, completely changing balance would mess things up too. Why bother playing a tanky merc with a low RoF weapon if you just instantly die when you get shot in the face?

It would be great to have something different, especially a ground zero map where environmental hazards are more of a thing, but this pushes the boundaries of what most of us like about DB in the first place.

Tank mercs that move slow have stronger gas masks. That can stand two or three hits.

I’m with @STARRYSOCK here - I like the setting but the instant headshot kill idea would definitely put me off.

This some hardcore sh*t.
Interesting idea, but the whole gas mask thing would just not be fun to play against. It just throws the mechanics of the game off.
Also having to have someone manually pilot the drone would basically force your team into an unfair disadvantage, since they’d always be a man down.

Unfortunately I don’t think that would work well. The main reason the game is a meme is because the mercs are memes, not the maps. The maps are still fairly serious, but you can’t have a generic dark shooter when someone is spamming taunts about haggis in the background.

Idk, maybe you can try to force a sense of seriousness by covering the entire map in blood or something, but it wouldn’t fit at all with the other maps.

Any one wonder how different db would be if nexon was still involved. I would imagine we would be in a slower path to release and nexon droping the game anyway since they seem to give up on multiple games. Though now that i think about it maybe nexon wanting to drop the game is why sd took complete control anyway. Either way im glad sd took complete control as nexon would have run this game into ground like lawbreakers and ghost in the shell.

I would really like a map that shows how dark this game like Underground(body bags). Mercs can be them selves but atleast I would like to see some effort put into the hopeless atmosphere that shows how mercs went from normal people to killing machines that are not giving a fuck about anything. I want to see something new because Dirty Bomb has a really diffrent backstory than most shooters with merc that say one liners. Overwatch has a boring world, mercs, story and gameplay(my opinion). TF2 is great but story will always just be fun. Dirty Bomb has merc with actual flaws and goals.

I hope we get some kind of PvE map for that someday. I feel that it would do a far better job of showing who the mercs are
