As per James’ request on stream, which should be of higher priority?
New map changes vs James' toiletries
@Dysfnal
It was about Tuesday’s stream, where the showed us the newly renovated trainyard, including “James’ toilet” and “James’ showers”, and James suggested to have this poll, as a joke obviously
oh so thats where all the dev time went… they even created toilets to show the metaphorical way of how their time went down the drain…
oh FACK off that’s my thing![/quote]
No it’s not
I genuinely had no idea that guy existed xD
He is now my spirit animal.
Obviously.
James’ toilets and showers are brilliant. You can always get your prox off in the shower or explode in James’ toilets.
I’m pretty sure that it was confirmed on stream that there will be an Urinal trinket in honor of James’ unsanitary work.
So… when?
I’m liking the non cosmetic changes on Trainyard, too - much needed.
The devs deserve some love.
Hi Guys and Gals.
Its The White Lycan here, AKA: James of Splash Damage. I’ve decided to put the record straight on this here Poll you’ve been having (which did make me laugh quite hartely by the way) (thumbs-up). What I asked was; would you rather have Map Performance and Optimisation or Toilet Trinkets? However I still feel the Poll is a still a legit one and the results are perfectly valid and are actually very interesting.
I assure you that there was nothing metaphorical about the decision to decorate these rooms with their given themes. It was purely an exercise in bring life to an otherwise generic space, which is a process that I’ve been encouraging our art team to consider alongside the other important tasks their completing.
“But Why!?!” I hear you cry. Well quite simply its because I consider the visual quality to be just as important to the users overall experience as the games other elements. Yes the game has to be fun and play well, these are incredibly important. Though it also has to immerse and captivate you. As the most senior artist on DB it’s my solemn duty/honour to ensure that the game continues strive to improve in visual quality and re-addressing these maps had provided us with a certain amount of time to do just this.
“But why James’s toilets?” Simply put; because it makes a space, a place.

Its important work, giving every little part of the maps some kind of meaning to them will bring more life into them, even if they are barely used, I like what you guys did with the execution maps, only started playing again a week or so ago and playing market for the first time in months I was really impressed at the changes you made, not only did it give sections to the map purpose it also altered gameplay in a positive way. Cant wait to see what this map optimization patch brings!

Don’t worry, I guess those guys never played the white painted asylum dome was for more than a year. After that, you know why the visual identity of a map is so damn important.
You probably should remove textures from map once every month
