(New Map) C2 Missile

After working almost a full year on this project, xeoxis and eiM have decided to release their map called “C2 Missile”.
Our main focus on this project was developing a new map fit for competition play. We hope we have succeeded in this.

As you can see, the map looks fairly large but the stages are played quickly if you do have proper tactics. Average time was always 8-10 minutes per round.

flied around for a few minutes, 1 billboard’s texture is messed up somewhere; sizes; snow - the map felt very big for me, and the snow around the rockets were a bit weird. and the rockets are… FAT! ;D

oh and the banner in the first post looks nice… what about including it in the pak’s root ^^?

Is there any upcoming play? Example, like 6v6 around here in the forum?

well the testserver is full 24/7 and if you idle in #et.mapping which is my channel with some other mappers you might be able to catch some 6on6 mixxes =) A Showmatch is on its way aswell.

Tested fast in own host. Too wide open areas and a bit boring for rg. Also too many camp places. So far didn’t like it but have to test in 6on6 before judging. From a mapper’s view I’d like to also add that the lights are ugly (too bright yellow) and texturework is quite sloppy with patches & boxes.

Custom sounds are terrible. Seriously, they could’ve put some feeling in the speech and maybe smoke some cigarettes for few years before recording those sounds.

Map looks good for 6v6. I like the signals that point you where to go, this is good for fast (team)play and saves a lot of time.

The voice overs are pretty ok, but it needs some time to adapt (to the ‘new’ voices … we’re too hooked to the old general ^^ ).

Some critisim (hope you don’t mind)
As already said lots of textures look stretched, the boxes I can over look (just) But then the main gate is like twice the normal size, I thought mayb you could split it into 2 doors, and that would also give more cover by having a middle beam.

In the main hall opposite the main gate there is a rack of boxes, the top texture on all of those boxes in NOT aligned.

The sky looks like something from quake 3 :S and how can it be snowing but have a sky like that :P?
(partial cloudy but can still see the stars? but it’s snowing)

When you go through the main gate out into the open there is a square with 2 trees in the middle, next to the trees is a metal stump covered in snow, but right next to it there is a perfectly clean box?? also the telephone pole next to it has no snow on the top (not even a wood/snow texture)

“textures/base_wall/oldwindow.tga” is missing, so the glass in the main area is noimage texture

the yellow ‘goop’ looks too bright, in reactor_final they have a nice texture for that (maybe you could use it)

at the place wehre you have to take the first box to, there is a broken telephone pole that seems to be defying the laws of physics.

Next to the place you take the box is a wall, with above it clip, there is some barbedwire inside the top of the wall (2 textures overlapping)

behind that wall there are some more boxes without any snow on them and telephone poles.

Next to the bgi room with the rocket in it, there is some yellow stuff on the floor, then through those double doors and to the left there are some billboards, the texture on one of them is not aligned.

Then just in general things outside should be covered in snow (even the floor)
Sometimes you just have a clear floor texture with no snow on it.

I take my words back, there are too many stretched textures on boxes / doors, its like you made it on a 1: 1.5 scale lol.

Sorry if it sounds a bit negative, but I think a bit of critisim helps.
This was just the looks. As for the feel I think it’s too big even for a 6on6, but I could be wrong. I don’t think it’s totally pointless though cause it looks good for bigger servers, so maybe adjust the looks and release it as is for bigger servers, then scale the whole map down a bit and release it for competition?

Just my 2 cents.

thanks for the critics :slight_smile: I am already aware of some of the points. We’ve already thought about rescaling the map a little bit, though as noone who didnt play it in a 6on6 might belive its just fine regarding size / time played. Afaik it can also snow if there are only a few clouds :stuck_out_tongue: also its nothing like a snow storm, I’ve thought about that in detail and as far as I am concerned its ok

I think you tested in on local host and only there this error occurs :slight_smile: Must be some corruption with an other mapfile you have in etmain but if you play it on servers its just fine. (nothing to do with my map I guess)

true that, got to change some textures so it looks properly

thats what you do if you want bigger boxes? Also can you name specific ones you dont like because from my point of view those who are aligned but scaled look fine

i loved the green water. it shocked the hell out of me :smiley:

and maybe its a bit too much indoor. the outdoor scences look great, but if you ask me…those indoor-areas and textures ruin the map…but only my opinion :confused:

You have been working on it for a year… I can see how great it looks!

But it’s definitely big - or was it only my impression? :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, the rocket is flying slowly (=no acceleration)… but that’s a detail.

The rocket is accelerating :stuck_out_tongue: Well it looks kinda unrealistic, though if you check out some vids of real rockets starting its looks just as unrealistic but thats how it is. Planes also seem to start so freaking slow for their size, but still they fly :stuck_out_tongue:

Ye one year approximately with many many changes but still its far from perfect. Though there were many pauses aswell.

Its quite big but it will be a bit more compact and have some major changes in the third stage in beta2. Stay tuned =)
