new knife animations since last update

did you guys notice that in the last update they added knife animations to the stillnotto? (maybe other ones as well, havent played with them tho)

the stilnotto will switch between the stilnotto animation and the beckhill knife animation.
1st knife: stilnotto
2nd knife: beckhill
3rd knife: stilnotto
4th knife: beckhill
and so on.

im guessing that its intendedTM, but didnt see anything like this in the patch notes.(or i didnt look properly)

Yeah I noticed, it’s pretty sweet. I think they maybe should add stiletto’s heavy attack animation to the beckhill too.

I mean beckhill’s original stabbing animation is actually the same as stiletto’s

i like the beckhill animation more tho, pushing a knife forward using both hands just looks badass.

@sweetColumn No I mean the beckhill’s animation back then, I remember seeing one video and when the player using the heavy attack, the beckhill’s animation is stabbing with one hand. I’ll look for the video again.

Now what we need is better cricket bat animation.

I mean seriously it’s like spanking

Do you mean the two handed push on the stilnotto? because that has been in forever, it is just triggered by consectutive heavy attacks.

First heavy attack, over hand stab
second heavy attack two handed thrust
then repeat

Na, I can confirm its definitely been there for a long time. Sometimes I’ll knife something, or someone’s corpse for no real reason… over and over again… lol so yeah, the animation has been there a long time.

There’s definitely a new stilletto animation. I noticed it on the first day too (my 3 main mercs/cards have the stilletto so I’m pretty familiar with the movements) but I had never seen the new one before the third summer squash update.

Yeah dunno what’s going on here. The new animation for the stiletto sure does look like the beckhill animation and when it does that new animation, it’s definitely a faster movement, so I don’t think it’s intended.

Leaning towards saying I’m pretty sure it’s a bug, and it’s getting mixed up with the beckhill.

It’s broken in multiple ways, but I’m also bad at it.

I’ve noticed that sometimes the Katana just fails to register hits on a person. Like yesterday for instance, I slashed someone and it made the noise like I hit them. I was right on top of them too, so distance wasn’t an issue. I slashed another Phantom who was already low on health and he should have died. I happened to be on full health and his one stab killed me along with another person on my team. This makes no sense, but it happened. (at least I was pretty sure one stab doesn’t kill Phantom and Phoenix).

Anyways, there’s some bugs at the moment with melee, but there’s also the other issue of the false length of the melee weapons. The Katana and cricket bat have the same range as a stiletto from what I’ve seen. It’s one of the most annoying things to experience that you’re obviously close enough to someone, but your slash doesn’t hit them. Hell, maybe I’m crazy.

since when has that been happening? i played kiratana/phantom before summer squash and didnt notice anything special, katana had way better range than stilnotto

the hit registry tho. i did hit a proxy , the slashing sound came but then i died because her shotgun hit me in the face. then i saw her health bar when im dead. its 100%.

That is likely just lag related, that happens with everything.
Its most often seen while sniping, as you are only firing one bullet, and sometimes that bullet is a kill shot, yet you die and they have 100% HP.

This is due to the hit sound being client side, otherwise all hit sounds would have a lagged delay on them to make sure they actually hit in time on the server.

every melee has 1 animation for heavy swing, and 1 for fast swing, so 2 total. what i described means the stilnotto has 4 animations total. the one it had, but also the ones from the beckhill combat knife.

i described how you could get the beckhill animation by stating the order that you need to knife in.

  1. light slash: normal stilnotto animation
  2. light slash: beckhill animation
  3. light slash: normal stilnotto animation
  4. light slash: beckhill animation
  5. heavy slash: normal stilnotto animation
  6. heavy slash: beckhill animation
  7. heavy slash: normal stilnotto animation
  8. heavy slash: beckhill animation
