New info

Well I’d like to support the company/game, but not if it’s not worth it (obviously). Take Team Fortress 2 again (I use this because it was a perfect example of what DLC/free updates are and the kind of post-release support developers should be doing). Hundreds of bug and gameplay fixes and additions, new content, weapons, maps etc and then they introduced the Mann Co store. I never once in 3 years of playing regretted buying TF2 and I thought using the store might be fun, but after every purchase I made I instantly regretted it.

TF2 would have been a dead game after a year maybe without any updates, but the free updates keep the game alive and keep new people coming into it. I understand at some point you have to do something to generate new revenue, but developers have to make it worthwhile (enter expansion packs). DLC should be extremely cheap, like 50c for a map, not $15 for 3 maps.

I reckon most of your support will go to Bethesda, not SD.

The difference being Valve has no publisher and noone to decide for them. They can do what they want with their products. Also on the flipside, TF2 updates TOO Much… I’m sick of having 200-300mb updates every week so that a shotgun is 2hp weaker and a rocket launcher is 5hp stronger.
Man, do u really believed, that SD will put in all they got? After all Bethesda is a master of DLC.
- 4 new screens

 • You dont need to cook Molotov, like a standart nade.

 • 8 maps in release
16 maps. It’s 8 maps per side (assuming the article is right) not 8 maps total.

(Cankor) #26

We already knew Grenades were not OHK’s. Now we know that when they knock you down you are disoriented as well.

(LyndonL) #27

8 maps per side? They’re the same map just with different objectives which makes 8 maps in total. No different to every other game.

(Cankor) #28

Well, they were talking about the campaign, and they’ve said at least some were specific to each side. Buy yeah, I guess you can’t count playing from the other side as a separate map can you :o

Also, Co-optimus seems to thinkt here are 10.

From what I could see, there were 10 missions available on each side and each one is a series of mini-objectives with an over arching goal.

edit: you know, thinking about this more, it’s not unreasonable to think there could be 16 maps. I am thinking the security campaign is made up of missions where you are attacking as security, and the resistance campaign is made up of missions where you are attacking as resistance.

I know this is off topic but can someone explain to me who exactly is this user names H0RSE, Ive seen him on the gamespot brink forum and he has lots of good information and I read his very good Brink faq on fragworld that was really informative.

(Hansi) #30

For me it is new:
The medic can not only revive teammates, but also “map objectives”
The prisoner that you are helping to escape can be shot and has to be revived by a medic to keep him going. So not only the engineer has to repair things to complete the objective, but the medic as well.

Operatives and Engies work together to build staircases. The operative locates it, and the engie builds it.
It seems the engie and operative have a nice relationship in the game. The engie upgrades CPs, the operative firewalls them… The operative throws EMPs to slow down charges and the engie defuses the charge. I wonder if operatives can also firewall turrets? They would be best friends then cough sorry rahdo :frowning: cough

The other one is the GearHead perk for the engie. It allows him to build and replace turrets quicker.

"How many maps are there?

With the game spanning across eight different levels, Splash Damage makes a bold promise that they’ll all be unique. Having experienced Container City, an old shipping dock that’s seen decades of neglect, and another level which featured a multi-level complex, I can assure you these maps are not small."

Per side?

(system) #33

So in the end, not much new information. 2 months before release and still no proper gameplay video.

Actually it’s the same thing I’ve seen on other sites. And who the hell lets these morons commentate and make opinions about games anyway? They can’t even play the damned things.

Splashdamage, throw a goddamn demo and forget about pleasing all the idiot journalists out there. WE DON’T NEED THEM.

(Humate) #37

Dude, it wasn’t a serious post.

(system) #38

I’m pissed off because the big reveal hasn’t revealed anything worthy. Just a few crumbs of information. It’s like SD will keep information hidden even after the game will be released.
