So ive only had a few hours with the game so far, had to spend some time setting everything up and tweaking the game into playable conditions. But ill be quick and just throw some thoughts in here for whoever to read. Forgive me if these things have been discussed already, but a few things i found worth to mention.
I also know the game is in very early stage and much might already be planned but not yet finished.
-First of all I do see some great potential. And this mainly because the game felt, overall, different from COD/BF, those two games that this will inevitable be compared to. But COD/BF is already doing a great job at being COD/BF, so to feel how DB feels different is indeed a very uplifting thing!
-Minimap. Or at least an overview map. Because im having a hard time both finding my way around AND understanding exactly what is going on and what we/opposition are suppose to/trying to do. I watched the training movie, and it was quite good, but an ingame overview would help alot.
-Ironsights. They are commonplace in just about every game today, but personally I dont see the need for them in DB. Its a faster paced game, less emphasis on realism, and if ironsights gives big enough an advantage it will be required to use it, and it will definitly slow the game down a whole lot.
-Engineer. My first big WTF moment was when i learned that all classes can perform objectives like planting/defusing bombs and repairing the EV. Im not sure how I feel about this, back in ET/RTCW we didnt need all classes to do this, and those games where still more fast paced then DB is.
But i heard they are still working on this topic so lets just see what happens.
-Map layout. One thing I found somewhat annoying is that it always felt like i could never be sure my back was clear. In a game like this, I think the maps whould be a little more linear. I dont want one path and a huge bottleneck, but not as difficult to protect and plan an approach as it seems right now.
This is of course a personal taste, and ive still played far to little to have an opinion, but ill throw it in anyway just because.
-Identification. Id love to see more distinctive colors on the characters of the different teams. Personally i would love the traditional Red and Blue, but there are of course other ways to keep it more proper to the rest of the setting.
Wel, i have nothing else right now. Will probably come back and update this after ive played for a few more days. But all in all im eager to see what becomes of this! THere is need for a game like this on the market again!
