I used to do it like u said, but another user (page 2 i think) todl me to do it one part at a time for greater detail.
New gun CQBR_what you think?
I suggested that you rough it out first, to make sure you get the proportions right, and use more shapes rather than cutting the whole thing out of one sheet. That way you can make sure you get everything right before putting a lot of detail into it, and then finding something that cant be fixed. Didn’t really mean to completely create one thing before moving onto the next. Sorry if i worded it poorly.
Looks good, only one real question from me. Why are the shotgun shells pointy?
And the Bore of the gun looks more like small caliber rifle than a shotgun, but that’s just nit-picking I think.
A0Whats a bore?
B) their meant to look like SPec ops hollow point, made for anti-personell at closer range than normal shotguns, cos Making it with the range of an AA12(250Yards+) would be OP
Even shotgun slugs are still inside of a traditional shell. Even then, hollow point rounds aren’t pointy, there’s a hole down the middle. Ex: http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/P220ammo_files/image010.jpg
Bore is the inside diameter of the barrel.
Edit: On the plus side, you did an excellent job on the stock specifically.
This is brink 40 years in the future, the gun has been adapted, kay?
So your saying the barell is too thin?
Oh, and if you go on my other videos and theres a high pitched voice thats NOT me, its Aled a 50% shareholder in my company, HE does the techy stuff with windows and stuff, i do software based items.
Edit: is the 3 stage iron sight (traingle, circle, line) too much? or is it ok, it should be better when textured
Here is a picture of a shotgun bore I found on Google. The bore of a shotgun is basically the same size as the shotgun shell you put into it. The side of the barrel often doesn’t have to be as thick, either, since theres not as much stress as rifled barrels get from spinning the slug.
Em… the model still needs fixed.
That is if your wanting to get it looking better.
Not graphical errors. Modelling errors. Thousands of them.
too many parts
bad topology
unsmoothed edges
slabsided model
To name but a few.
Too many parts? Explain in detail
What is topology?
you want me to set smooth, why?
THe model is not slabsided.
The model LOOKS slabsided to me.
You know if you click the handle how it selects the handles model and wireframe. There’s too many different pieces of geometry. Its really tricky to explain as different programmes use different terminology for this. How many different object make up this gun?
Topology is the way the wireframe of the model flows, its really important because it affects how your model looks when smoothed. Smoothing makes the model looks a lot better.
slab sided as in un- equal on each side, eah its meant to be like that, i cant hve 2 flows of Ammo into the box or other junk on both sides,
Parts as in detail? i thought more detail was good, always, and i thought games could accept a fair amount of polygons, The old game i worked with which was Carnivores 2 allowed 2k triangles, so i assumed it would be much more these days.
I cant open blend files. I use Softimage.
No parts is not detail. if anything theres not enough detail as far as I can see. If it was smoothed it would be easier for me to tell. Parts is the way youve used the geometry to construct the model. See the barrels youve got on the end, they’re different parts, they arent attached to the rest of the mesh.
Slabsided as in the gun itself looks too thin and flat, like you didnt use a top down or front facing reference when you modelled it.
I did, i used a reference, but i wanted it to be thinner than the Saiga 12k it its roughly 85% the thickness s of the SAIGA
Yet again, someone told me to build the parts bit by bit, on the Carnivores SAGA i think it was, i do have about 10 seperate Cubes/planes/ whatever, but that is what i was instructed to do ,
Well it looks far too thin, it would be a pain too hold.

Look at the difference, for a start the grip on the real one is wider to make it nicer too hold. As is the stock and handle.
I dont think its that its too thin… its more than its effectively the exact same thickness all along its length, it makes it look awkward and unrealistic and flat.
