New Get SMART Video Gets Classy

(Jamieson) #21

“Soldiers can choose to throw Molotovs instead of frag grenades” Does that me Soldiers can either select Frag grenades or Molotovs and use only one of them or does it mean you have both and can use them independatly from one another since they have seperate cool downs.? I was under the impression that the soldiers got both which makes sense since they are the assault class.

(ClickClickBOOM) #22

Your impression is right.

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #23

The soldiers have both.

Cool new things I noticed:

[ul]
[li]The blue circle around your class icon which shows the progress of a self-buff
[/li][li]Operatives will know where every mine is as you can select as a mission to spot a mine for the team
[/li][li]When disguised, you will have no weapon model showing since when you attack you will lose your disguise anyway (might be interesting for those who play with weapons model off if possible)
[/li][li]There is no proximity mine, or trip mine since an engineer can diffuse a mine without it going off when he gets close.
[/li][li]The medic can see incapacitated players in the HUD as a plus sign in a white box. It seems like when they throw the syringe it changes the icon to a hollow white circle and if the player revives themselves it turns back into a full white circle.
[/li][/ul]

(Sorry if you guys noticed all of this before, but some of them were new and interesting to me.)

Moltovs are explode on impact. I think that’s the only difference. just being able to throw 2 nades is what makes having them good I think.

(Linsolv) #26

That would’ve been this one. But it didn’t. It said it “releases a fiery explosion” and “knocks the enemy down.” Which is exactly what a frag does, but with fire.

@ RAAAAAAAAAAGE & ClickCllickBoom - thats cool  plan on playing soldier alot see.

As far as I am aware the mines are like the ones in ET, friendlies can see them whereas only enemy operatives can see and spot them for the other team. Like ET the mines will only go off once you step on and then step off them. I have good memories in ET of being stuck to a mine and having to kill enemies while I waited for an engineer to rescue me lol.

Its also the fact that you don’t need to cook the molotov like you would a frag, you could wait the time needed to cook the frag and it would explode near the target, with the Molotov you just throw it and it instantly explodes when it hits. It gives you move options, you could for example cook a grenade and throw it at a doorway and then instantly throw a molotov a second after to help clear out any enemies in the choke point, good luck dodging a molotov whilst knocked down by the frag.

It does it for a couple other things as well if you watch other videos. Reviving is one instance.

It seems to me to be a busy indicator when ever there isn’t an on screen indicator showing how long you can’t fire.

(tokamak) #29

Great video. I really love the complete absence of the orange gunk.

(Mustang) #30

You can actually see in the video that the grenade type indicator icon changes from frag to molotov just before it is pulled out
Indicating that he was carrying both

(dazman76) #31

Excellent once again  This may have been asked already, but are these videos going to be shipping with the game too? I know that isn’t a requirement since they’re available online, but they’d make such a sweet access-from-the-main-menu tutorial series

Anyhow, both the videos themselves and the overall representation of the game they provide, are slick as hell  Nice work SD!

:oppressor:

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #32

At the command posts when you want to switch your weapons do you get a selection of every weapon available? or do you choose weapon loadouts before the match?

(ktr) #33

Hidden mines don’t look very hidden.

(madness) #34

that’s because he’s an operative. they can see them.

(Schwarzeis) #35

If you’re a Soldier, you wont see the mine

If you’re an Operative, you will see the mine

If the Operative ‘‘spots’’ it for your team, everyone can see it and the friendly Engineers will get a mission to defuse it

(Jess Alon) #36

Also you can see mines your own team laid down I’m pretty sure. But that’s just speculation from what I’ve seen in videos.

(Realirony) #37

I was amazed that the demo team was running 3 medics and only 1 soldier. =o very interesting sirs.

Love the video. I noticed alot of new thing I never noticed before. And I see now that you can revive without needed to see the objective in the wheel XD. good times.

Is it May 10th yet? it isn’t? damn

(tokamak) #38

Sure and I bet friendly explosions don’t trigger them either.

Now I wonder if you can still get hurt by friendly mines. Even as an exception to friendly fire.

(Jess Alon) #39

Tok I saw a vid where a guy lured someone into a mine he was standing on top of @ PAX and it didn’t damage him at all but it knocked down the guy he baited to him.

(tokamak) #40

Right, though that could only indicate that friendly fire is off (which is indeed off in the standard settings).

I’m just saying, in case friendly fire is on, mines would be a reasonable exception.
