New Et Scanner, Buddy Tracker, Launcher

(Kadar) #1

I started working on this program about two months ago, and just put it “in the box” this past weekend. I think anyone who plays ET will find it useful.

You enter specific IP addresses for the ET servers you want to track (up to 32 addresses).

It will maintain statistics on over 4000 players (depending on your settings).

Maintains a Buddy List, and sounds alerts when your Buddies log on or log off an ET Server.

Updates your active ET servers 3 time per minute (depending on settings).

It has plenty of features that allow you to customize display and operational settings.

The biggest draw back is the download, it will take about an hour. My upload speed is only about 100 Mb and hour, and the download is 109Mb.

You will need to log onto my FTP Server as Anonymous. My FTP server is currently running on [IP address] 74.178.56.62

Download the entire (FKU)Favorites Install Files folder. Once downloaded read the “Installing Directions” found within the folder.

Optionally you can download the Help file located within the folder:
“I Just Want The Facts”

I have also uploaded the files to MegaUpload, and the files can be obtained through the following links:

Main Download (FKU)Favorites.zip (109 Mb):

Installation Instructions Installing Directions.pdf (239 Kb):

Final Installation Notes Readme.txt (2.2 Kb):

If you have any problems downloading please feel free to email me:

The program name is (FKU)Favorites. It is designed to run on a Windows PC using XP, Vista, or better.
(not designed to run on Apple or Macintosh machines)

Update: A “beta” version is in the works. The “beta” features an IP Route Tracer, and additional improvements.

I’ll see you in there,

Interesting as this may be, not too many people are going to notice it when it sits in the RtCW section. You could ask some admin to move this topic to a better spot.

Right, would be noticed earlier in the ET section of the forum.
Would you please upload the file to megaupload or rapidshare? Thanks in advance.

Why is it 109MB, isn’t that a bit large?

(Kadar) #6

Hi Scary,

You’re right about that. The bulk of the overage can be contributed to 135 sound clips. A few of these sound clips have specific usage such as buddy alerts, start-up, and shutdown.

The remainder of these sound clips are played randomly as background ambiance. These consist of sounds extracted from the game while in play. The effect is that you are actually listening in on the servers that you are monitoring.

There is a check box within one of the dialogs that allows you to turn this feature off (it can get to be annoying). These randomly selected clips will cease whenever you launch into a game.

You are also allowed to create and add your own sound clips (short ~10 second wav files).

The good news:
Once downloaded, any program updates will consist of the main executable file only. The main executable is ETLauncher.exe and is only about 1,800 Kb.

There is a “beta” version currently in the works.

well if they are sounds extracted from the game, why dont you take them out and just make a path to pak0?

(Kadar) #8

Hey Stealth,

I wanted to thank you again for steering me to the pk0.pk3 file. After a bit of surfing I discovered how to open these pk3 files. There seems to be quite a wealth of information/data there - including the game sound files. I see how I could access these files from within my program, and make use of them.

Due to time restrictions I believe I will leave well enough alone where the (FKU)Favorites program is concerned (for the time being anyway); but it does open up some possibilities:)

Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing. It’s great

Thanks for the feedback sisfirin:)

Feel free to contact me if you have any problems or questions.

You may want to peruse the help file; there are a couple of hidden buttons to learn about. One of these will let you reset the player rating variables!

Hmm, Sisfirin has got a quite strange signature…
