New ET Map - frost_beta3

hi here is the beta version of my latest map. its called frost_beta1.

Story:
The Allies must steal a Radar Prototype out of an Axis Castle and Escape with a Truck.

Objectives for Allies/Axis

  • Destroy/Defend the North Tower Wall!.

  • Destroy/Defend the South Tower Wall!.

  • Open the Castle Gate/ Prevent this!

  • Construct your Command Post!CP enables a forward Spawn in the Library.

  • Steal/Defend the Prototype!.

  • Steal/Protect the Prototype!.

  • Get away with the Truck!. Dont let the Allies get away with the Truck

the map looks really great, love the layout and texturing and shading looks great too!
but there is one area of buildings that has no texture

i also have the map running on my clan server

I think he have this mod in his etmain, the snowflakes are invisible.

I tried your link and got the new beta3, but when I go to unzip it, it says Bad Header Pk3, choose to open anyway? And when I unzip it their is no pk3 their, but maybe I don’t need to unzip it? It comes to my Pc as a .zip, I guess I can just rename it pk3, but I wasnt sure what the bad header thing meant?
Anyway, the map looks great!!! We want to add it to a campaign once we all test it out. I also loved NOTW and Industry, we run Industry in one of our <BT> Black Talon camapigns. We love NOTW also!! However, we can’t get NOTW to fit in a campaign it never accepts the true name and just reverts back to old name? Also, in the middle of NOTW we fouifn a little trickjump that lets people in teh middle building without blowing the walls, if they stand on the corner of the blownout wall, hard to do but its been done, wish I could kill that little corner and figure out what I’m doing wrong to not let it fit in a campaign (must be map name).
If you know what I’m doing wrong with opening the beta3 of Frost please tell me, and what I might be doing wrong with NOTW that it won’t go in a campaign! Thanks for great maps.

great thanks to you Pitsbrgparatrpr and chiemseeman i didnt recognize that the pk3 was damaged while i uploaded it.

the link now works and the pk3 works now as it is supposed to be.

you are the first one to tell me notw is a great map :banana: .
do you have the notw_finalv1.pk3 ? if so maybe the filename could be the problem.
the name of the .bsp and in the arena file is notw. maybe you are trying with notw_final1 ???

the problem with the jump is i lost the .map file of notw cause my pc crashed and i had no good backup so this little “glitch” will stay till i maybe decompile the map and fix it.

As for the Frost map. I tried the download, recieved the .zip file, then unzipped it to find the .pk3, but it unzips with a bunch of files but no .pk3 still? No standard file that you usually get when you unzip that would say frost.pk3 or whatever. I get maps, scripts, etc, but no .pk3 after unzip? Once I download I use windows explorer so it turns things into .zips, maybe I just need to rename it? But, usually I unzip with IZARC and it gives me the .pk3, so, in short it still won’t give me the file.
As for NOTW, yes I have finalv1, I will try just calling it notw. I actually went to your site and found a v1a, and grabbed it, but again I got no pk3 after extraction, maybe I shoudl nto be extracting and I shoudl be just renaming the file? And… oh YES is notw great… Here’s why:

  1. Axis assaults
  2. Covops play a crucial rule and not just stealing unis and sniping
  3. the map looks great
  4. the hiding places and neat objectives keep you on your toes
    Thanks for your help, do you think I just need to rename, or is something wrong with the download perhaps?

this may be my browser… I think I’m trying to open a file that is already a pk3. Thsi damn Windows Explorer won’t give it to me as a pk3…LOL, probably my fault!

yes you have to rename the file to .pk3 after the download.
give firefox a try its a great browser.

the problem with notw in campaign seems new cause i have seen it running on other campaign with no problems. this >B< bunker xp save server got it for example.

notw is in our camapaign and running fine, I had it titled wrong. Weve been playing Frost throughout the day in a camapign that has: 1.notw 2. Frost 3. et_ice 4. fueldump Its going preety well. The Allies have one a lot more than the Axis, but everyone really likes the map. The suggestions we have so far are to A. cut down time by maybe 5 minutes to put preasure on Allies and B. make either a barracade or allow that gate to be closed by Axis if they touch wheel, then both sides can fight over the wheel (but I dont know if thats possible). the only thing we found is that the Axis have it a bit harder, we thought lessening the clock by 5-10 minutes might fix it? But weve been playign 3v3 and 4v4 on it. Cool!!!

I have been running the map off and on all week in the mini-campaign I created. I think, as said above, it is a great little map, it goes together well with NOTW, which I run right before it! The only thing I have found, is that most of our clan thinks the time might be best dropped down 5 minutes or so, as teh Allies usually win with 6:00 left or more. But… that may just be how were playing? Either way its a great map, very fun to play. Only comment I have is on the 30 minute clock for such a small map. THANKS for making it! :banana:

and I will get beta 3 on there tonight.
