New content in the update today

(Pheromone) #1

A new content(such as merc, map) is expected to come in this update or it will be another ‘fixing’ update?
I think its about time to add something new…

It’s a fine tuning update. Mostly changes to competitive. Ranked trinkets will probably handed out.

so it will be 3 months without anything new?

They have much, much fucked-up content to fix before they should spew out new content. Just sayin’:
-Phantom
-Sparks healing abilities (Heal falloff)
-Thunder
-Various major gamebreaking bugs (grenades not dealing damage to people in turrets, mines falling through ground, stickies unstick from people randomly and so on)

Its true, but i know people who already leaving the game because there is nothing new,in some points its starting to be boring playing the same map with the same mercs over and over again

I’m sure they’ll be testing the new maps again sometime soon. Besides the two mercs that haven’t been added back in I doubt there will be any other new content besides maps for a while. Personally, I’m excited for more maps and hopefully more cosmetic events. The new changes to ranked will hopefully make that mode more popular and enjoyable. The devs have said they plan to add more mercs into the game eventually but I doubt that will ever be their focus. A map editor or SDK would be a great way to keep new players interested and keep the content flowing while SD works on improving the core game.

Keep on waiting for Turtle. sigh

(Faraleth) #8

No new content. The update today is pretty much entirely ranked changes and bug fixing/tweaking as far as I know. We’ll have to wait for patch notes, but there is definitely no new content!

1,9G is a pretty big update solely for finetuning

Thanks for all the answers

I’d rather go longer without anything being added if it means we can focus on getting substantial real content added. More maps - the one on the way for objective isn’t even close to enough, at this rate we’ll be lucky to get one a year which is pretty slow. Mercs I’m less concerned with, since they just seem to act as a booster shot for the player base. We’ve got enough mercs for pretty diverse games right now, though obviously I’d like to have a go at the few we’re waiting on. That said, none of the unreleased mercs really sound like they’re going to shake up the game particularly, so I don’t expect them to revitalise anything.

As for people leaving the game because there’s nothing new - that’s always going to happen. Other FPS games get a surge of players with each DLC and then they all vanish a few weeks later. It’s a bad reason to try and rush out new stuff - if the game is good at it’s core, they’ll stay. Realistically, some people just don’t sink into one game only. I definitely agree that more maps would help, I could definitely go for some new scenery and slightly different objectives after a year of playing the same handful.
