A new story entry has been added:
[drupal=613]New Brink Developer Diary Explores Setting, Backstory, Narrative[/drupal]

An all-new Brink developer diary has been released, with Lead Writer Ed ‘BongoBoy’ Stern exploring Brink’s setting and backstory, and how they came about. The diary covers everything from the very initial inception of the Ark (where Brink is set) to how the game’s final environments convey backstory information to the player. It’s a very fascinating read and garnished with plenty of new concept art - head over to the Bethesda Blog to get reading.
If you missed them earlier, don’t forget to check out the inaugural Brink developer diary by Game Director Paul Wedgwood and the second instalment covering art direction penned by Art Director Olivier Leonardi.

WOOOOO!!! Headin’ over to read now! BABY!

EDIT: Great read! I dig this neither side is all wrong/bad or right/good stuff.

Nice read! Is there a higher resolution version of the blue picture? Would make a great wallpaper in my opinion!

PS: A question that comes to my mind everytime I hear about the story in Brink is how do you keep the impression of the Ark being overcrowded when you are playing 8vs8 and you don’t see anybody else? Container City is the perfect example; as it is a shanty town you would expect lots of people around. Of course it makes sense gameplay wise but I’m still wondering.

Thanks a bunch! Now I just a ultra widescreen monitor.

Awesome! Fall can’t come soon enough as far as I’m concerned!

I took the image from the diary and made a small form wallpaper. Unfortunately the resolution isn’t the greatest but it’s perfect for my netbook

Sorry if it’s a little crappy. I’m certainly no photoshopper - I don’t even have photoshop. Good ol’ Paint Shop Pro 5 hahah.

Edit: Fixed the original I posted. I fixed the green background I left between their arms etc.

A valid point! It really should be like running through the streets of any of the most crowded cities in the world. Everyone must have heard the gunshots and hid deep in their containers.

Nice work, Lyndon. Though I see nothing in your work to indicate you need better software, I suggest GIMP (for any OS and free) and a reasonable Photoshop Elements Substitute.

Hey thanks 3Suns  I actually have Gimp, but forgot all about it!! haha… Gotta love osalt.com!

In regards to the crowded streets: lucky there isn’t lots of civilians around otherwise they would be cannon fodder, and as such we could risk a MW2 airport controversy

Good point. Without giving anything away, we basically work that into the story.

We generally try to spot little issues like that and address them where we can

(darthmob) #12

Ok, I’m looking forward to see what you’ve come up with!

(H0RSE) #13

it could be something as simple as the areas where the battles take place are labeled as “hostile areas,” and civilians generally steer clear of them.

(SebaSOFT) #14

Even easier… People scream and hide when they hear guns shooting. It makes total sense that the place gets deserted when the helicopters/guns/vehicles start to sound…
